Did the Dodgers get the raw end of the deal here?

From whats reported, yes. They got a couple of Yankees prospects (and last I checked none of their prospects are even close to ready for the majors) and a pitcher that had an ERA of around 6 in the 2nd half of last year.

It doesn't really seem like this trade helped them out. I guess they were desperate to get rid of Green's contract

Of course I don't play close attention to the minors so its best to ask those on here that do

Many wondered why the Los Angeles Dodgers traded Guillermo Mota to Florida. After all, Mota is arguably the best setup man in baseball. In 105 innings out of the pen last season, he fanned 99, picked up 13 holds, and posted a 1.97 ERA. More of the same followed this season, as Mota had a 2.14 ERA and 17 holds when he was dealt.

So, once again, why would the Dodgers trade Mota away while not acquiring a bullpen arm to replace him?

Yhency Brazoban is why.

Brazoban, 24, was one of the better relief prospects in the Dodgers system. In 51 innings for AA Jacksonville, Brazoban closed 13 games, allowed 38 hits, walked 22 and fanned 61. That earned him a promotion to AAA Las Vegas, where in 12.1 innings, he allowed 14 hits, one walk, and struck out 17. Brazoban, who consistently throws between 94 and 97, has given up three hits and a run in 4.2 innings since being promoted to the bigs. He’s walked none and struck out three.

Dodgers general manager Paul DePodesta recently told ESPN’s Peter Gammons that Brazoban “could be an important part of our bullpen down the stretch.” Brazoban appears ready to be useful bullpen arm, and he could develop into an elite setup man within a few years. Owners looking for holds, strikeouts, ERA, or WHIP should claim Brazoban. He’s definitely an intriguing player for dynasty leaguers with deep rosters.

The more and more I look at this deal the more I think the Dodgers got screwed, and after losing Beltre, LA fans have got to be pissed off right now.

Bottom line:

The Dbacks just restocked the team for 3-4 years by trading away a 41 year old man. I highly doubt Randy plays more than 2 years. I am sad to see Randy go, but what are you going to do??

None of the guys they got today are going to start sans Vazquez. If they put Duncan at 3B I will LMFAO

I am not a big fan of Green's but he does help the problem in who will play rightfield this year. I wonder because of his salary will the Diamondbacks try and trade him?

I believe the HOF took that choice away from the players after the Devil Rays tried to bribe Wade Boggs and others to use a D-Ray cap after only playing there for one season.

He has a no trade clause, so he holds all the cards.

and now for a bizarre twist. On ESPNews, The AZ Republic's Dbacks beat writer said that the deal is far from over and RJ is considering staying.

I'm so confused

Does anyone else feel uneasy that Randy would be going to the Yankees? Maybe being closer to the Evil Empire gives me a different perspective, but one thing I don't want is the Yankees getting any better.

A middle line-up of:

Gonzo
Glaus
Green

is pretty decent... if Gonzo can return to form
Or if all of them can return to form. :D

Do I feel uneasy about it? Yes. Unfortunately though it appears RJ didn't give the Dbacks much of a choice. He said he only wanted to be traded to the Yankees, according to reports.

If thats true we had to do what was best for the team. The reported trade I think would help this team out.

Could RJ be helping the Diamondbacks out and trying to get more for them? I like this trade and think the Diamondbacks make out great.

Also, I read Green is in his final year of his contract. If true, he is a stop gap for Carlos and Conor.

Yes. That is it. I knew it. RJ is bargaining with his future to help the team he is possibly leaving.

I love that guy. He is always looking out for #1.

WHAT?! Now RJ wants to stay? Damnit - that deal potentially would have set us up for years to come.

What the hell is Randy doing? Is he just some petulant child who wanted a lot of attention? This blows - unless Randy stay and they somehow get another bat the size of Green's in some other type of deal.
