My apologies to cardsfanmd for overreacting. Bigredmo is also partially right.
Remember, we have known nothing but misery and incompetence from ownership here. You had good teams in St. Louis so you've felt some reward. I'm jealous. That's a fact.

The play in Arizona has been so weak you'd be hard pressed to come up with a decent Arizona only "all-time" team (no players allowed who played in St.Louis). Most of the guys would be current players.
No kidding. There were some really fun STL teams back in the day.

I would think that the Ring could include both great past players and current "among-the-best" players without being stretched too far.
How could they think of excluding Andreas Williams--for a few years his name was just about synonymous with the Cards. On the other hand, as a late-comer to the Cards, I have only a bare idea of who Wehrli is--I have much stronger impressions of Jim Hart and Conrad Dobler, for instance.
Here's an interesting question: Should Jake Plummer be in the Circle? Not with the Cards a long time, and certainly with a mixed record of stats and success. But he helped get us to our only Arizona playoff games and only victory--over Dallas! He certainly provided excitement and hope.... I can sort of see it, maybe....

That guy got a raw deal by that Packer defender...what was his name? Martin? ...McMahon's career would have been so much better if his shoulder had never been torn apart by that "hit."

I think the RoH should be reserved for players that get drafted by and retire with the same team. Knowing this will be highly unlikely with FA and all it will keep the RoH numbers to a managable level.

Really? So you don't think that Emmitt Smith should be inducted into the Dallas RoH? Or Joe Montana into the 49ers'? Or Jerry Rice?
I think that you should induct players who were a major part of greatness and identification with the franchise during a period of success. I think that's the argument for Aeneas Williams, who did take a dump on the franchise after he left, but was by far the best player on this team for a really long time.
But since Aeneas was not a major part of any greatness, he loses out.

Emmitt Smith was drafted by Dallas then signed a 1 day deal so he could retire as a cowboy.. Not sure about the others..
I understand your point and I agree to an extent. I guess what I meant to say was there should be some loyalty by the player to want to retire as a 49'er or Cowboy or Cardinal. Signing the 1 day deal works for me. I cannot recall if Aeneas retired as a Card. If he did then sure he is eligible, if not then no I don't want him in the Cardinal RoH no matter how good he.

Oh, I see what you were saying. I don't know if Aeneas has ever fired retirement papers with the League. I think he still wants to play.
McMahon only attempted 43 passes playing for the Cards. The guys I listed had at least 100 attempts in a season while playing for Arizona.
In 118 attempts in 1991, Gelbaugh threw 10 interceptions. Ooof.

I don't see Luis Sharpe getting recognized for his time in AZ considering all his off the field troubles.
Who do you recongize? Who is your all star team. I will have to go back and look at the roster from year past.
Williams was one of the classiest players to play for this team. He was tough, worked hard, had talent, and was a true gentleman. When his first contract was up, he was one of the only players to re-up instead of running out of town. All you had to do was talk to the man to see what a great individual he was, it wasn't hard as he loved the fans and took the time to meet them. His parting words were only on the differences between his new team and the Cards, sometimes the truth hurts. When the time comes I think he does get into the Hall of Fame, first ballot, no, but eventually. The Cards know him well and it would surprise me greatly if they didn't put him in to the Ring of Honor someday.
Toughest positions to fill were, you guessed it, Running Back, Offensive Line and CB opposite Williams.
