Three things to know about this game

• Colorado second baseman DJ LeMahieu (right groin strain) is hoping to return to the lineup. He missed Wednesday's series finale against the Giants after injuring himself in Tuesday's contest trying to beat out a ground ball.

• The D-backs took two out of three when these two squads met in Denver last week, but the Rockies hold a 5-4 advantage in the season series.

• In a small three-start sample this season before his long DL stint, Gray got a swinging strike on just 10.3 percent of his sliders. In 2016, however, Gray's 24.6-percent swinging-strike rate on sliders ranked fifth among starters who threw the pitch at least 500 times. He trailed only Noah Syndergaard, Max Scherzer, Clayton Kershaw and Michael Pineda.

Yep. The injuries and slumps by the top hitters is catching up to them. This loss is going to hurt. If they bounce back and win the next 2 games, they have a chance to finish off strong before the all-star break. If they lose tomorrow, I don't see them holding their second place spot. The dodgers are rolling and seems like the rookies found a team they can beat up.
