Okay, please fill in what I miss or set me straight if I misunderstood.

1. Rod expects to get something done with Emmit Smith - preferably sooner than later. He will start negotiating with Eugene Parker, Emmit's agent either today or tomorrow

2. We had interest in Takeo Spikes but he wasn't interested in us.

3. Rod is keeping his eye on one unnamed restricted free agent.

4. From now on, Rod will be concentrating on the defensive line in the rest of free agency.

5. Rod expects both Martay Jenkins and Frank Sanders to resign with us and Mike Jurecki said Martay has told him he'd give the Cardinals an opportunity to make the last offer.

That would certainly clear things up, wouldn't it.

Good, I want Mar Tay back. Jenkins is a good, not great player. He could easily be our top receiver if he comes back.

I wonder who this could be?

Tai Streets maybe at WR? KGB at DE?

Pinnacle and I both believe a great scenario, would be to trade our pick (and whatever else was needed) to the Jets (or Raiders or Pats) for 2 first rounders. We could trade one of those picks to the Packers and give an offer sheet to the Packers' KGB that the Pack couldn't match. The other first rounder could be offered to either the Niners' or the Seahawk's to pry away either Tai Streets or Darrell Jackson. The result: a good pass rusher and a good receiver.

Mike Jurecki just added that he has been told by the Cards front office that we are going to add 12 more players to the roster, that's it.

4 as of yet unnamed free agents, and 8 draft picks.

The way I understood it was 4 FAs, on top of resigning our own.

Eugene Parker of the infamous Parker/Barnes duo... The Cardinals should blacklist these two guys and any player who uses them for his agent!

Another strike against E. Smith.:trout:

The unmentioned FA appeared to be an RFA mentioned by (it sounded like) Bill Lewis - that would be KGB.

I don't believe Graves answered the part of the WR question dealing with looking for an impact wideout in free agency.

He said the primary FA focus would be on upgrading the defensive line, and that the process could last all the way to June as more veterans are released as fallout from the Draft.

It sounded as though both he and Emmitt wanted to move the negotiating process faster than the 3 - 4 week period projected by Emmitt. Nothing specific was said about signing being imminent, but the "body language" on the part of both Emmitt and Graves during both interviews appeared to me to suggest that Emmitt will be a Cardinal before very long.

krang..glad someone read my posts on this topic.. I bet the person is KGB...I would at least hope that they trade down and somehow get 2 picks..looks like the receivers we mentioned are not an option..cards would probably try to keep one late round pick and use the other on a KGB.. seems mgmt might be ok with current WRs frank and martay..I only say this because we have not had any WRs visit us -a nd there is a bunch out there..

Problems with my KGB deal:
1. Other teams are onto him..if someone contacted his agent - the agent may be putting people on ice to see where holliday and douglas end up and what size their contracts are... If I was the agent for KGB..I would be thinking..hey..there a bunch of teams that need pass rushers..but some of them are dreaming about hugh douglas, etc..he will get a huge contract - and I will use that to go the runners up..

I have read rumors that green bay would take the pick and not match an offer on KGB..this was reported in a philadelphia newspaper.. I am sure there are 3 - 4 teams that have their eyes on KGB...he and has agent may have let it be known that they are not ready to sign an offer sheet...yet..but I think they will eventually.. $1.3 sucks this year for both the player and agent..

I would be all for this if we could trade out of #6 and pick up two 1st rounders. Use one on KGB and have one for the draft. Graves did say that he did not think they were in a position to give up draft picks. Rookies are cheap compared to some in FA.

If we have a shot at Suggs at 6 who would you rather have....KGB or Suggs? That is the question you have to ask.

Wow, I couldn't disagree more.

First, trading back for more draft picks would be very difficult, especially aquiring two first rounders for the number 6 pick.

Second, if you want a pass rusher so bad, why don't we trade UP with out 6th pick and "whatever else was needed" and grab Terrell Suggs? You get a younger, more athletic player who has almost the ammount of professional starts as KGB did before this year. And, the only reason KGB did start this year was because of injuries to Joe Johnson and Vonnie Holliday. Also, here is the big game performer tha KGB was last year. 7 of his 12 sacks last year were against teams of a combined record of 31-39. A backup situational player that is not worth a first rounder in my opinion.

Finally, Darrell Jackson is definitely worth a first rounder, but we would be giving a first round pick to a division rival which is not usually a good thing. Tai Streets has done absolutely nothing to deserve a second round draft pick, much less a first rounder. Couple his total lack of production with providing the 49ers (a team that usually drafts very well) and this makes absolutely no sense.

Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of making things happen for this team, but signing these players to offer sheets that their former teams wouldn't match would cost more money than the draft picks we would be giving up for them.

Suggs will not be there. I'm almost 99% confident that won't happen. The Bears and Cowboys, as it stands right now, both have pitiful pass rushes. One of those two will take him (IMO) if he is not snagged in the first 3 (Texans, Bengals, and even the Lions could use him).

So it would be, KGB or Robertson, McDougal, Kennedy ?, or Newman?....I take KGB in a heartbeat.

I think it is slim that Suggs would be there. I agree.

I would be more worried about Jackson being a gunshy reciever now after that vicious hit he took last year that left him knocked out for several minutes and body visibly shaking on the field.

We would be much more likely to be able to trade down than trade up. You would have to give up value to get Suggs, while gaining value trading down.

Also, KGB is a proven player while Suggs is not. Streets is not quite worth a first rounder (he has been injured a lot) I'll give you that (I do think that Jackson is). We could also KEEP the pick, and draft a receiver which would be cheaper.

Shane-Very justifiable point which is another reason I wouldn't make this deal, but as far as talent alone, Jackson is worth it.

My question is why because I really don't see it.

So they are still pressing for Holliday and then they may shoot for KGB...assuming he is the unnamed RFA? That would be another coup if it panned out.

pinnacle, I don't believe what the Philly newspaper said about GB just taking the pick because KGB represents their pass rush right now. I think alot of offer sheets they would match but there is a number out there they cannot or will not cross. KGB leaves GB, they are in hardly a better situation than the Cards were at the end of the season from a pass rush standpoint.

I am more onboard with the idea of going after an RFA and in some respects they don't even have to trade down for extra picks IMO. You would be getting an NFL ready DE for your 1st rounder instead of drafting an unknown player, hoping he gets into camp on time and then hoping he is one of the guys who doesn't go bust.

Ok, go your last post a little late.

YOu say that KGB is a proven player, but all he has proven is that he is an excellent situational player, with good speed, but doesn't have th eability to play every down. The only reason he started last year was because of the injuries to Holliday and Joe Johnson.
