Rod Odom has narrowed his two schools to the UofA and Vanderbilt. He should be announcing his decision by Wednesday. If Miller can get Odom plus Bejarano, it will be a great week for the Cats.

With BC out of the picture I think UA is the team the beat. Odom and Bejarano is the start to a very nice class. A PG like McCallum would be a homerun as a 3 man class, with guys like Lamb and Jones pending.

I don't know if they are the favorites. Rod is not your typical recruit. He is a very smart kid who had Harvard on his list of schools he wanted to go to. Vandy is a very good academic school.

I just say that because of the visit he had to Arizona, which he loved and the fact he had a very tight relationship with the BC staff. I always assumed BC was the biggest threat for that reason and they are now out of hte picture.

the UA rivals site is reporting Odom committed today.

Could be a huge week for Miller and staff, should Bejarano pull the trigger this weekend.

Great job.

Bej will commit this weekend or early next week at the latest assuming of course his official doesn't go poorly. He's already been telling people he's UA-bound.

Those two are a good foundation, the rest of Arizona's targets are McD's AA caliber players (McCallum, Lamb, Jones, Payne) who could put us over the top. I think we end up with at least one of those guys and back-to-back top 15 classes.

Ahh balance has been restored to the basketball universe.

Now if football can just keep up the momentum we might not hear from those neighbors to the north for a while.

I don't think Livengood could of hired anyone better than Miller. What Sean has done since he was hired is unbelievable. I can't wait to see who we get next.

The only reason Livengood was able to hire Sean Miller is because a prominent booster stepped in with a big check after the situation completely fell apart and gave Sunny Jim the ammo to give Miller an offer he couldn't refuse. Livengood gets no props from me and neither did he from the powers that be considering he basically just got fired not too long ago.

While I am in no way surprised that Livengood is not thought of highly these days, this bolded part has me wondering.

It seems Zag's Blog is reporting Lamb has "narrowed" it down to three and that his visit to Arizona might be off now.

LAMB HAS TOP THREE

Oak Hill (Va.) guard Doron Lamb will take his second official visit this weekend to Kansas for “Late Night in the Phog.”

He previously visited Oklahoma for his first official the same weekend Harrison Barnes was there.

After the Kansas visit, Lamb says he plans to visit either Kentucky or UConn the weekend of Oct. 23.

Oak Hill coach Steve Smith had previously told me Lamb would visit Kentucky that weekend.

“I don’t even know yet,” Doron said Tuesday night. “Kentucky or UConn next week.”

Asked if he had a leader at this point, the 6-4 Lamb said: “It’s a three-way tie out of Kentucky, Kansas and Oklahoma.”

Arizona and St. John’s are also recruiting Lamb and he had tentatively slated a visit to Arizona the weekend of Oct. 23, but that now seems off.

As for the Kansas visit, Lamb said he has a good relationship with the coaching staff and also knows former Jayhawk Russell Robinson.

“I haven’t been there but I know a former player, Russell Robinson, and I know players that go there and they tell me good things about it. I’m cool with the coaching staff,” Lamb said.

As for UConn, Lamb said he might visit the Huskies in November if not on Oct. 23.

“If I don’t visit the the third week [of October] I’ll probably visit in November,” he said.

I kind of assumed Lamb would be a tough pull anyways after DB committed. The biggest needs are a true point and a big man.

I agree Lamb and Zeigler were out of the picture as soon as Bejarano became a Cat. Again, its the world of recruiting, if you really want to go somewhere you can't expect a school to wait forever.

I don't think Zeigler was ever really in the picture unless McCallum commits.

Ziegler was in the picture at first, then along came Doron Lamb and his recruitment got quiet, then Bejarano came along and slammed the door shut on both of them. Also, I don't think Ziegler and McCallum are a package deal anymore, Kansas will more than likely end up with Lamb, UCLA seems content with their own Lamb, and UA has Bejarano, I feel it will come down to those three schools for McCallum.

Anyone hear of a possible de-committment? GOAZCATS has him on their front page with the title breaking news on recruitment. I know he isn't academically ineligible, I know TJ hasn't committed so what else could it be?

Rod Odom has informed the school that he has de-committed.

That name is cursed. Years ago UCLA had a kid named Rodney Odom, for one year, transferred out for PT and would have started as a soph had he stayed.

Does anybody know why this Odom changed his mind, he only committed a couple of weeks ago didn't he?

I'm hoping (but I have no idea) that he saw the writing on the wall and that we have a couple guys (Payne and McCallum) that are going to add to the class making the scholie numbers overall not work or at the very least not favorable from a PT perspective with so many other wings already in tow.

He has said its because of being so far away from his family in NY but then is likely going to Vandy?

Theres more here then we know it seems.

Huge difference in distance between Nashville and Tucson when you're an NYC kid and that's without taking the academic factors into consideration. Arizona would've taken him and loved his upside as a player (probably wouldn't have played as a freshman and perhaps sophomore anyways) but has higher targets on the board at weaker positions. McCallum is a must get to Arizona and I've heard they're looking good. Payne also would be huge, but nobody really knows what he's going to do.

Bottom line is that Arizona liked him and wanted him but is solid enough at wing and in need elsewhere with limited scholarships to let him go without trying to scratch and claw their way back into it. That time will be spent on the other several top 50 kids still on the board. From what I gather it sounds like Miller was too good of a salesman as Odom always really preferred Vandy and just got closed into a commitment he wasn't 100% comfortable making by Miller. That speaks volumes about Miller's tenacity and closing ability.

McCallum is really the first head to head UCLA vs Arizona since UA hired Miller. UA has a built in edge with his family connected to Miller, but it's still an interesting fight. I would argue UCLA needs him more than UA does, it's quite likely UCLA has only Anderson and Tyler Lamb at guard next season without signing another guard, everyone is convinced Lee is going to the NBA.

From what I've read McCallum is being recruited far heavier than he's actually good, he's in a great situation he's a hot commodity because of need, but he's largely being recruited as a backup PG.

Here is what angers me, you can spin it and say oh well he's only a 3 star or he wouldn't have played early on but his commitment gave Miller the option to focus more on Payne and McCallum but now TJ sounds real good. People are saying its a long way for his family to go, well then why was he even considering UA, he wanted to go to Vanderbilt then why did he commit here, he should have picked Vanderbilt and saved us the drama, maybe we would still be in it with TJ. Most of the team is from NY, you don't see these guys having a change of heart. Point is the kid made a pledge to play for Miller then reneged, shows a lot of character. I hope he enjoys his basketball career in the SEC cellar watching the tournament from home.
