Not better options per se, but a better allocation of resources. And I'm really unsure how you can be fine with the offense we put out there in the final stretch with Kyler. Plenty of games where we barely managed production, or if we did, it was in absolute garbage time after being blown out.

I used to be pretty critical of Kyler for seemingly needing top weapons to succeed, but throwing him out there with just Michael Wilson, Greg Dortch, and Rondale Moore is criminal to him. (Yes, I know we have McBride.)

Are you suggesting we go after Pittman/Higgins then? Or that we just cross our fingers that someone in the 2nd is good enough to be our #1 wideout all year?
I'm all for getting an OT, DT, and WR with our first three picks...then an OG, WR, and RB in the third...
With our need and the WR depth in this draft we would be foolish to not double dip.
We can complete the offense and add developmental talent to the defense in this draft... Then spend FA dollars adding defensive talent.... Then next year spend top picks on defense and developmental offensive players

I don't mind those picks in the top 3 but I'm going to be flatly mad if we invested the #6 overall pick last year on a guy who can't switch to LT and already needs to be replaced.

I think it's just a very big mistake to hope our offense can succeed with say, Xavier Worthy as our top WR.

Thank you for clarifying that makes sense. I’m not fine with the offense at all or the defense for that matter. If MHJ is there then I would take him 100% even if we did sign someone like Pittman or Higgins. I’m just not gonna lose my crap if he isn’t there or we take an elite OT instead.

Hell, I’d even be OK with drafting two receivers in the first round if we already got the offensive line taken care of.

That's a pessimistic outlook.
What if we spent 6 last year on a ltof... But he is developing well at RT, then our current LT gets hurt... And THIS year there happens to be two LT prospects who are much better prospects than the guy we got last year ....so picking one is not only filling a huge need but is also a pretty big upgrade for the next 12 seasons or so.

I think I'm pessimistic because I see a generational talent in MHJ, someone I expect to dominate the league for a long time and break records... and sure, having a tandem of good tackles is a good thing, but you just don't invest that kind of capital at RT.

It feels like spinning our wheels to focus that kind of capital replacing DJ, and mashing an almost 30 year old James Conner into the line over and over, compared to giving Kyler a key target to get the ball to.

Edit: This is also a team lacking a truly dominant player with star power. There's no one on the team whose jersey I want. I don't have a favorite player anymore. I know that's not necessary overall, but man, it'd be nice to have someone on the team again that has buzz across the league.

generational talent
When’s the last time a “generational talent” actually lived up to the generational talent billing?

Clowney? Honestly, good career, but not generational results.

Luck? Great player, hamstrung by bad management, but still, but not generational results.

Lawrence? Solid player, but not generational results.

All I’m saying is, bring your standards down a little bit.

I don't throw the word around that much. You're right that it's been a while since someone touted as "generational" panned out, but the on field talent, the measurable physical talent, and the pro pedigree all point in the right direction.

But I will point to someone like Ja'Maar Chase being a pretty highly touted player that people expected dominance from, and he's lived up to that.

Kyler still generates buzz across the league

I don't feel like he does. He's maybe the most talked about player, but a lot of that has to do with whether or not he's that good. Since I don't live in Phoenix, I don't hear a lot of people talking about Kyler, or needing to look out for him in our next matchup.

I don’t mind the contract for Joe. My issue is our playcalling. We don’t seem to scheme Ja’Marr and Tee open, it’s a lot of contested catches.

Also, I wish we’d go under center more to setup play action. Joe is a top 5 QB and he can certainly be dynamic. He’s definitely gotta stay healthy and our offensive line is still meh.

Personally I think we need to trade Tee. If Bowers is there at 18 I’d want him. If we trade down I’d say we go offensive line and get the kid from Oregon State Fuaga. I like his style and he’d be able to play RT.

I see. Interesting. A few questions please (brief answers are cool and thanks)

1. how did you become a bengals fan?

2. Are you a longhorns fans?

3. What would ARZ need to offer you to trade Higgens (we talk about him a lot, some guys on the board want him for our WR1).

Ryan Grigson was Steve Keim with hair. Luck was special.

No way would I use a 3rd round pick on a RB. I say that knowing I usually agree with oaken.

The point is that WRs can be found later, after round one. There are plenty of really good round two WRa. The same can't be said about OT though.
Do you mean LTs or all OTs? Cause, honestly, there are plenty of good starting tackles drafted outside the first round. From current playoff teams:

BAL RT Morgan Mosses - 3rd round
BAL LT Ronnie Stanley - 1st round (6th overall)
HOU LT Laremy Tunsil - 1st round
HOU RT George Fant - UDFA
KAN LT Donovan Smith - 2nd round
KAN RT Jawaan Taylor - 2nd round
BUF RT Spencer Brown - 3rd round
BUF LT Dion Dawkins - 2nd round

TAM LT Tristan Wirfs - 1st round
TAM RT Luke Goedeke - 2nd round
DET RT Penei Sewell - 1st round (7th overall)
DET LT Taylor Decker - 1st round
GB RT Zach Tom - 4th round
GB LT Rasheed Walker - 7th round

SFO LT Trent Williams - 1st round (4th overall)
SFO RT Colton McKivitz - 5th round

That was last year. I think they are some good players that can be acquired this FA, and it is right time to do so.

Who?
