I have read it in a few posts on this board.

Have we confirmed the failure of this organization yet ?

Seriously, that is pathetic. We are talking about 5 months to sign a single player.

Well, maybe CC's reps want to make him the highest paid D-lineman in the history of the game and Rod has a few reservations about that. Who knows? Prefer a Long term deal now, but, I'm glad there's the tag and the certainty that CC is on the line come September.

Here come the worry warts and panickers... Dude can still be signed. Just because the cards can and would use tag if they needed to is not some big revelation. Not really any earth shattering news of any kind.

I think the Cardinals will get a deal done with Campbell---similar to Dockett's. I think Campbell is excited about the direction of the defense and the team and will be willing to sign long-term. Thus, it is in his and the team's best interests.

So are the Packers (Finley) and Saints (Brees) failures of franchises too? It does take two to tango.

How many first round draft picks have the Packers and Saints carried into their second contract in the last 10 years? I don't know. But I do know how many the Cardinals have. ONE, Larry Fitzgerald. That's why Cardinal fans are concerned. We just don't have a history of keeping our top players.

What's changed Rugby? Mr B coughed up bunches of up front $$$ to players before camp & I saw this coming for that reason. It's the Cardinal way! :bang:

I agree. He seems very happy about the team and where they are going.

2000
AZ- Thomas Jones (Left)
NO- No 1st rounder
GB- Bubba Franks

2001
AZ- Leonard Davis (Left)
NO- Duece McCallister
GB- Jamal Reynolds (Left)

2002
AZ- Wendell Bryant (Left)
NO- Donte Stallworth (left) & Charles Grant
GB- Javon Walker (left)

2003
AZ- Bryant Johnson (Left) & Calvin Pace (Left)
NO- Johnathan Sullivan (Left)
GB- Nick Barnett

2004
AZ- Larry Fitzgerald
NO- Will Smith
GB- Ahmad Carrol (Left)

2005
AZ- Antrel Rolle (Left)
NO- Jammal Brown (Left)
GB- Aaron Rodgers

2006
AZ- Matt Leinart (Left)
NO- Reggie Bush (Left)
GB- AJ Hawk

2007
AZ- Levi Brown
GB- Robert Mecham
GB- Justin Harrell (Left)

So since 2000 the Cards have had 1 guy stay longer than their rookie contract, the Saints have had 3, and the Packers 4. Not like they are miles apart from each other.

I disagree 3 or 4 players out of 7 is a lot better than 1 out of seven.

One out of 8. :bang:

How many of our 2nd and 3rds in the same time frame? 4. Dockett, Wilson, Hayes, and Small Play Ray Thompson who was cut the next year but at least the team kept him past contract #1.. Out of 16.

Of course half those 16 draft picks shouldn't have been in the NFL to begin with. :D

Keeping 1 out of 8 is horrible when compared to keeping 3 or 4 out of 8. That's 3 or 4 1st round picks on your team, it makes a huge difference. Huge! Ginormous!! :)

(For one thing, even if 3 out of the 4 don't pan out, you still have leverage moving them because there's always some coach or team or GM who thinks they can fix the player or put him in the right system, especially when you're talking about a 1st round pick. When you only have 1 first rounder stay in all that time, you really are rolling the dice hardcore)

I have one: 2000.25 Vince Tobin. 2000.75-2003 Dave McGinnis. 2004-2006 Denny Green. 2007-2011 Ken Whisenhunt. Turn over HCs every 3-4 years and you'll also turn over players every 3-4 years as the new guy brings in his guys.

While you're right, I'm looking directly at Mr. Bowtie

WHYS AND WHEREFORS:

2000
AZ- Thomas Jones (Left)

* Considered a malingerer by many on this board.

2001
AZ- Leonard Davis (Left)

* Rec'd a 48M deal to play r-guard in Dallas. Don't recall too many who believed that Mr. False Start was worth that coin at any position.

2002
AZ- Wendell Bryant (Left)

* Bust and out of the league before his first contract expired.

2003
AZ- Bryant Johnson (Left)

* mediocre receiver who at best was a no. 3 in AZ

AZ - Calvin Pace (Left)

* solid in his last year, which got him a huge contract in NY, and, again, most believed that he was grossly overpaid. The contract was also instrumental in making negotiations with Dansby problematic.

2004
AZ- Larry Fitzgerald

2005
AZ- Antrel Rolle (Left)

* Turned down a lucrative deal in AZ for one in NY that made him the highest paid Safety at the time. Few on this board believed he was worth that $$$, and many believe he was adequately replaced by Rhodes.

2006
AZ- Matt Leinart (Left)

* Didn't like how this ended, but, he had as many detractors as supporters on this board.

2007
AZ- Levi Brown

* Left to be seen how they deal with him.

It has nothing to do with him not being signed.

It is the illogical reasoning not to sign him sooner.
