Sorry. I didn't intend to be a jerk about correcting you, just thought it was funny that you believed Diaw was only 6 pounds heavier than Childress.

I am opposed to the proposed rumors because they have us giving up picks. I'd be open to bringing him back in the right package. He can help this team this year, but is certainly not a long-term solution. The Suns or any team for that matter won't be doing anything in the offseason, so Diaw's additional year won't really affect our long term plans that according to management appear to be focused on the summer of 2012, the first offseason of the new CBA when Nash is likely gone.

With Diaw as our power forward, I definitely don't have any delusions of repeating our improbable run to the WCF's in 2006 when Stoudemire was sidelined. He could help us squeak into the playoffs to a first round exit. If there is no other appealing pieces coming back with Diaw, then I'd rather stand pat and miss the playoffs and improve our draft position.

I think Boris back on this team would be like Turkoglu back on this team.

Was diaw really that bad here? From what I could remember he was somewhat decent.. I remember he hit a HUGE game winner in the playoffs.. I admit though, at the time I was a junior in high school and not fully into basketball and how teams were doing on a game to game basis.

He was really good for one year and really disappointing for two and a half years.

The catch is that his one really good year he was playing entirely without Amare Stoudemire, whereas his crappy 2 1/2 years he was playing with Amare. Don't know if it matters anymore, but it certainly is worth pointing out.

Without Amare and without an extra 40 pounds.

Yeah, Diaw hasn't had Stoudemire with him in Charlotte either, and that hasn't stopped him from sucking. I'm not a big Larry Brown fan, but generally speaking, when he gives up on a player, that's a bad sign.

In the last two years Diaw has averaged 11.3/5.2 in 34.5 minutes. That's plenty of playing time. That production is mediocre at best for the minutes. IMO Warrick would be much more productive given those minutes.

We really don't need any more mediocre players. Get picks, get cap space, or put together a package that gets something good in return.

I know it sounds like anathema to some on this board, but I have higher hopes for Lopez than for Diaw.

Portland wants to move Camby and Miller for younger players.

i always love when people refer to his best season as "really good" or "great." he showed upside and he came through as we needed, but he was hardly "really good." just look at his numbers:

Pts 13.3
FG .526
FT .731
Rebs 6.9
Assists 6.2

as a PF he averaged 13 points and barely 7 rebounds per game. yes, he had playmaking skills, as his 6 assists indicate, and he was a passable defender (let's not kid ourselves into thinking he was ever a good defender). but "really good" or "great?" i think we all saw a young player that finally gave a peek into his potential and we allowed our imaginations to run with it.

We don't have younger players. It is our problem.

Yes we do. Its just that we don't want older players like Camby and Miller.

Childress, Warrick, Dudley, Lopez, Gortat, Dragic, and Frye would be considered younger players.

Plus, if we keep our draft picks, we "should" be getting younger! :D

Everyone for Cavaliers available for draft picks, sources said. Also, Grizzlies shopping center Hasheem Thabeet, source said.

I wouldn't mind trading our own draft pick or Lopez for Hickson.

Also James Johnson was just traded for a late 1st rd pick....why couldn't we get in on that???

diaw was the center in the 06 run right?

For much of the run Kurt Thomas was more the center than Diaw but he got injured before the playoffs, IIRC. That left us with a starting frontcourt of Tim Thomas, Diaw and Marion - hard to say who the center was. I'm thinking of the year Dallas beat us in 6 after we eliminated the Lakers and Clips - Raja came up with a torn calf and limped badly through the last two games.

But the Suns liked Earl Clark better than James Johnson in the 2009 draft. In retrospect the Suns should have drafted Ty Lawson, Jrue Holiday or Rodrigue Beaubois to name a few.

... just thought it was funny that you believed Diaw was only 6 pounds heavier than Childress.
While Diaw has gone from 215 lbs. to 230 or 240, did he add muscle or fat?

I don't think it was muscle, in the same way that Frye's impressive size of 6'11" - 248 hasn't generated steady strength in the post.

Diaw may have gotten heavier, but he doesn't play stronger. His playing Power Forward for the Suns would not be a step up for us.

I was a HUGE fan of Jrue Holiday & Darren Collision. Watched the kids at UCLA and wanted PHX to draft one of em sooo badly. Can't believe we skipped on both.

Their two of my favorite PGs that are under the radar. If we could pull of a trade for either, I'd say our future is in good hands.

But it'll never happen.

Can't believe you were a huge fan of either in college. Both were extremely underwhelming at UCLA.

JJ Hickson is available? Man for a draft pick (or two?) I'd do that!

I am the only person here that really likes Diaw then...

I haven't watched his game for a long time. Not sure if he has changed.

I don't completely hate his game but he's a huge disappointment when you compare talent to results. Give him Michael Jordan's will to win and Diaw makes the NBA's 100 greatest players of the first 100 years list. Right now, he just barely makes the NBA's 100 greatest players currently playing in the Eastern Conference list. For most of us, we just figure diaw is the French word for lazy.

I was always a huge Diaw fan. If he had Dudley's work ethic and desire, he would be a superstar. If an opportunity presented itself though, I would be all for giving Diaw another chance in Phoenix.
