Cards have the best round 2 pick in the draft they can outbid any team for Ogunlye if this is true.

Would you pull the trigger?

Add a 15 sack man to an 11 sack man.

I probably would, this team would instantly have one of the best D Lines in football. Then sign a big fat DT in round 3. Suddenly you don't need such great CBs.

And the OLINE gets fixed by taking Gallery round 1 IF Fitz is not there. If Fitz is there take him and try and hit on an OL in round 4.

Hmmmm.... That's a tough one.

There will be some quality players in the 2nd round. But Ogunlye is a proven 15 sack man....

If a 2nd rounder is ALL there asking for then, yeah, I would pull the trigger.

Whether the Cards will is another story...

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. If he only has of couple of years left before retiring then he may not be worth it.

I've been saying that for weeks. I'd give our #2 for Ogunleye in a heartbeat. He would go right into the LDE spot opposite Berry!

Don't see us doing it as we had just signed Berry and have more pressing needs. I also wonder about Miami DEs. They are great in their system but not so great when they end up on other teams.
Vikesfan: Remember the Lorenzo Bromell signing by the Vikes. Additionally Kenny Mixon has been solid but nothing special.

Well we HAD planned on signing Berry AND Hicks, so we are/were definately in the market for two DE's.

My only concern is that he is ALSO only 255 lbs, which I think may be considered undersized for a LDE, BUT....he did play oposite another undersized DE in Jason Taylor, AND he did had 72 total tackles, which to me is impressive for a d-lineman, and shows that he is more than capable at playing the run.

For a 2nd pick? Oh yeah!

At this point he has got to be better than any player avalible in the second round. Also with two speedy rush ends the cards can afford to be a little weak at the corner. Plus they can get rid of some of the dead weight DEs on the current roster.

I have not read a thing that says that we are interested in him. With his proven ability he is certainly more valuable than any second rounder in any year , with the exceptions of the great finds put Anquans name here.

I would take him in a heart beat if , He is healthy, if the contract does not take us to cap hell again and if he has no luggage.

They performed in MIN exactly as they had in MIA only Tice in his idiocy and as coverup for Red's thrift plan said/thought they would be good. I looked at their stats and they were pathetic in MIA and they have continued that in MIN. These were more terrible signings by Tice. Bradford, Bates, Crockett, Biekert, Lyon, Walker, Chavous (as CB), etc. He said they WOULD become sackmen in MIN. LOL!
What a moron that man is!

If I was MIN I would give our round 1 for him. Heck I woud give them 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 for him. Better then giving Tice draft choices Raonall etc.

This guy is the real deal. Young prducer. Did you see him at the probowl?

He is undersized but it worked in MIA. You can rotate him. Get another big DT to help out. Or even another LB.

Whoever you take at 2 might become a pro-bowler but they might bust.
Even at 1 guys do bust. In fact I would be tempted to give the 1 for him (if say Fitz is gone) or if you wanted to trade down. Udeze, W Smith who knows how good they will be?

This kid is already a pro-bowler and 25 years old. That means you are adding pro-bowlers to your team that is a good thing and your are making units complete (DE in this case) and young pro-bowlers and as DG said being the best at your position in the division.
Is there a better RDE then Berry?
I know there is not a better LDE then Ogunlye.

Can someone flip it around and tell me why MIA would NOT want to keep this guy? Is he due a big contract soon? Any other issues?

Just curious. Thanks.

Cards have the best round 2 pick in the draft they can outbid any team for Ogunlye if this is true
For all you guys who never saw a free agent or trade-prospect you didn't feel we absolutely had to have -

The train has left the station. Berry is our guy.

(Note - the point about Hicks would have some merit, except that Hicks was a natural LDE and neither Berry or Ogunlye has the bulk to anchor over on the left.

Dude if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck then it's an LDE. Look at his numbers he has done it for 3 years. TACKLES and sacks.
They said Suggs was too slow. They had said Boldin was too slow. They said Zach Thomas was too small. They said Ray Lewis was too light.
The dude is producing at LDE at a pro-bowl level. This isn't a draft pick. This is the kind of deal that puts the team into the next echeleon. This is a genius type move. Look what having 2 sack men did for MIA's defense and DENV's defense.

Add talent. Add producers. Add probowlers. That is all good.

He wants a long term deal and MIA can't afford to give it to him. They don't want to let him go but they might have to.

DANG!!!!! If we'd have known it'd only take a 2nd rounder for him, and his contract demands would be similar to Berry's, then I would've pulled that trade. But we have Berry now, and we have no need for another "light" defensive end at that kind of money.

Yeah he'd help, but I think we should invest our cash/time in other positions. I currently like the idea of Berry at rush end, with Johnson/Pace fighting it out at the other side.(which I think will eventually happen) This way we can develope some talent at DE, otherwise we stunt those 2 guys growth IMO.

Berry was the BEST FA signing in all of the NFL this year IMO. Bang for your buck, he flat out has the pass rushing skills, and he didn't cost a huge penny. I'm very excited to watch him in Cardinal Red.

First of all Berry and Ogunlye don't even play the same side. The fact that he recored 72 tackles AND 15 sacks proves that he can hold down the fort at LDE. Like Vike said this is not some rook being evaluated on "potential", this guy is a Pro Bowler.

Secondly to say that we don't "need" another productive pass rusher is TOTALLY assinine, and blind to the fact that we have been LAST in sacks over the last 3 years.

If its a money issue here's $3.5 million to be had right now.

Stone, Michael CB 2004 418000
Gilmore, Bryan WR 2004 455000
Vanden Bosch, Kyle DE 2004 533750
Rhinehart, Coby CB 2004 535000
Wakefield, Fred DE 2004 750000
Davis, Russell DT 2004 800000
----------------------------------------
Total = 3,503,774

Add that to what we already have, and that would still leave us room to restructure Quan and keep a mil in injury buffer. PLUS giving up our 2nd rounder would save us rookie pool money.

Another thing to consider, is that Berry was teamed up with a couple of other very good linemen, and there is a very real possibility that his production could suffer if forced to play with Wakefield or Pace on the otherside.

Wouldn't it be nice if WE were 1 and 2 in sacks this year like Miami was last year?

even though

Even though, Berry is about the same size, Oguneleye (sp?????) would be a great pick up. Why, unlike a 2nd rounder we know what we got... not everyone is a Boldin. Lastly, this is football... people get hurt and what happens if Berry goes down.

I say pull the triger on it only because of the luck we had with our second rounder last year, you know that there is no way that will happen again.

Two DE that can actually get to the QB on this team? I'll pull the trigger for that trade. And draft a 2 gap DT and man this DL is seriously been upgraded.

It would be crazy not to seriously consider this deal. To make it happen you would have to know what he's looking for in a long term contract.

that's what I was thinking but when I mentioned it people thought we couldn't get a second by trading with Cleveland...
