what comments do you have on gannon verbally abusing him last night? you usually have pretty good insight on this stuff..
It's not in the papers but of course we all saw it on tv. You can read Gannon's lips he yelled "get the bleeping plays in faster". I think he was mad because by the time he got the plays he had no time to audible and he was getting killed. Later he yelled get some bleeping plays in here that work.
Gannon is like that with everyone and he was Trestman's biggest fan last year. The Raiders have an issue I mentioned last year, they have no clear structure as to who does what. Trestman is the OC but Callahan is the former OC and both call plays. Trestman wants to throw, Callahan wants more balance, and the team is split. Callahan said at the press conference afterwards that obviously teams have figured them out, and they need to run more. Jerry Rice told local reporters the exact opposite, "maybe we need to throw every down like we did last year when we turned it around." and Trestman rarely speaks to the press but I assume he's with Rice.
Gannon has not been sharp(missed Brown for a TD last night) and he looks old and he looks shell shocked from the Super Bowl.
Trestman is in a familiar position, if the offense implodes he will absolutely take the blame no matter how many plays are called by Callahan.
What really stunned me was how many wide open plays they got off simple misdirection. Jake looked great, if you can use him that way all year without him getting hurt look out. I just don't think you can, look at Vick, Culpepper, McNair in past years, they all get used that way and they all get hurt. Jake is already hurt and despite his denials, got his bell run again last night by Romo. Jake is playing the best ball of his life especially in the first quarter, 38 points in the first quarter of 3 games, that's a whole year for us in Arizona with him. Can Shanahan continue to scheme guys that wide open is a question that I can't answer. He's got 5 td passes, 4 travelled about 15 yards total in the air, the other had Lelie uncovered for a 44 yarder, and that was actually Jake's play because he stepped up, not a schemed play.
Worked perfectly for me, if Portis gets 45 yards I tie, 60 I lose in my fantasy league. He got only 42 so I am 3-0.
