You can strip out the facts, but there are more than that.

1) The team doctors cleared him to practice.
2) His team-administered MRI came back "clean".
3) Williams refused to return to practice.
4) Williams requested a second independent opinion.
5) The coaching staff publicly questioned that decision.
6) Williams backed off the second opinion and climbed on a bike.

Those are all the facts, and they don't exactly add up to a player who's poised to claim a job as a bell-cow back in the NFL.

Source of points 3 and 5?

Thank you K9, All I have to do is look at what A Peterson has done up in Minnesota and the injuries he has overcome. AP didn't run like he was in fear of being injured again. The guy was a workhorse.

I believe half of coming back from an injury is believing that the doctors did right, made the repairs properly and once you rehab you are good to go.

The Arians Presser from 7/29 that was posted on the Cards iTunes feed makes it fairly obvious that the coaching staff was skeptical of the decision.

As for 3 specifically, isn't the fact that he didn't practice evidence enough that he didn't practice? What further verification do you need?

He could have stayed out after consulting with med / training staff.

So we are not dealing with actual facts, but your summation, and we all know in 'fact' that you are no supporter of Williams.

Several facts in K9's posts remain unchallenged.

You could clear/revise points three and five and still have a more expanded set of facts than you're offering. The summation remains true, as does your conclusion, but no amount of mud that you try and throw on me with ad hominem attacks will change the fact that Williams decided that he wasn't healthy enough to practice, didn't practice, and then backed off his desire for a second opinion.

Clearly we have a different appreciation of the term 'fact' and how it should be used and not confused with opinion based summations.

Revised to satisfy Guernsey's high standards for non-editorialized fact-stating.

I am glad we could find common ground on the 5th string back.

RM, Fonz, Stepfan, Andre E, RW.

Anyone?

Who drafted this kid? Who was the head of scouting? Who told Whiz RW never fumbled in college except for about 5 times.

You give me $500K and I'll do all the stuff that he did, including sitting at home and playing XBox during the week in between treatments and following surgery.

All he had to do was COME BACK. He was incentivized by $500K+ in 2012 and $700K+ in 2013 (plus vested veteran status which brings on a pension and other long-term benefits).

He's never been a good NFL back, and he's still not. I'll give him the credit of coming back like Adrian Peterson as soon as he plays like Adrian Peterson for one quarter of football. All he's done to show he's "come back" from his latest injury is make an impressive cut into the waiting arms of a linebacker during a non-contact drill.

It sure was a testament to Ryan Williams' bravery and fortitude when he came back three months after his injury and admitted that he stunk up the joint for his FIVE WHOLE GAMES by "being scared."

We'll have to agree to disagree... I think it's absurd to question the heart of a guy who has been thru what RW has been thru, and fought all the way back to where he is right now. All that tells me is that you really don't have much appreciation for what it takes (physically and mentally) to compete at the NFL level...
I believe the issue is not at all about RW's heart or "want to".
That's all...

There have been plenty of studs who wanted to compete at the NFL level, but couldn't for health reasons...
I'm confident that if RW doesn't make it all the way back, it won't be because he didn't want it. Sometimes, the body just won't allow it - period...

I'm pretty aware of what it takes to compete at the NFL level. I just doubt--based on the evidence that's been presented--that Ryan Williams has what it takes--either mentally or physically.

I'm sure that for a period of time he really, really wanted to make it at the NFL level. I'm just not sure if struggling for three years hasn't taken that out of him.

All we've ever heard or seen from Williams is talk. After some initial excitement, I've pretty much given up any hope. Even when allegedly healthy, (which of course now he wasn't) he didn't show anything.

I'd love to see him actually do something in a real NFL regular season game. Until then shut up, and PLEASE stop referring to anything regarding Walter Payton. It's embarassing.
