Man, you must really get a hard-on for Kobe to bring him up in a thread that had nothing to do with him or the Lakers, especially when it is about something that almost every great scorer in the history of the league did all the time. Let it go, dude!

I actually like Kobe (and hate Shaq and the Lakers)

I am just dumbfounded by the stupidity of players to take his fake when there is 1 second left in the thid quarter on an impossible shot.

Remember the last Suns vs. Lakers game :D

I have to agree with you on that one. It is hard to believe how many defenders will jump when guys do about 4 or 5 fakes in a row even if there are only a few seconds left.

I'm sure you play basketball, LSM, so you know even the greatest defender will either a) take chances, or b) make mistakes. Sure, these players should know based on history when to jump, but in the heat of the game, I really doubt these guys are running up and down the court thinking, "Oh my gosh, I've got to defend Kobe, the best player in the league..." They just do it--the whole case about how part of the game is instinct is absolutely true. Bruce Bowen would bite on a fake sometimes whether it was Kobe or Dan Langhi.

Trust me, all the coaches I ever had would yank me out of the game if I ever fell for a guys 3rd fake with only a second on the clock. You can give up a 3 or 4 point play in that situation. In fact, the best thing to do is what Jason Kidd did last night to Chauncey Billups. If the guy doesn't have time to dribble or make a good pass then you get to your spot and get you hands straight up.

Now, in a regular possesion, I have gotten my hand caught in the cookie jar many times. I was just speaking of the end of quarters or shot clocks when a guy picks up his dribble and pump fakes like 3 times and then gets the guy up in the air to get the foul and a possible 'and 1'.

Bad example.

How many fakes can Langhi attempt from the bench? :D

That was my question in the first place. Why bring up the name in sports talk?

I just did a search for the J-name and it's been mentioned in 62 threads, mostly in the SPORTS forums.

Who cares??

It gets so exasperating that one mention of a word that might have the smallest bit of religious connotation, and everyone gets up in arms. If it bothers you, don't respond. Don't turn it into a theological debate that didn't exist in the first place. You did a search for the word? Come on, Brian.

Remember when Shawn fouled Kobe with 1 second left in the 3rd against the Lakers. Kobe faked and threw the ball up. He made 2 FT's. Kobe had no chance at making that shot. If he makes it, good for him.

Man this tight officiating just ruins the game. Who the *** wants to see 22 freeshows shot by one team with over 7 minutes remaining in the 2nd qtr.
