I know that a lot of you guys like to be on top of this:

Accoring to Len Paswuarelli's Tip Sheet, ESPN.com:

"As of Friday morning, there was $163,915,781 in aggregate cap room in the league, and average of $5.122 million per team. But the numbers are a little misleading, since 11 teams have over $5 million in spending room and 11 have less than $2 million. There are actually five teams with less than $1 million and the Tennesee Titans have a league-low $1,178 in cap space. Five teams have more than $10 million each -- Arizona ($21.98 million), Minnesota ($16.29 million), Houston ($13.56 million), Philadelphia ($12.43 million) and New Orleans ($12.27 million) -- and they represent nearly 48 percent of the available cap room leaguewide."

Jesus - is this true? I really can't believe that with all the cap room we had and have, we haven't gotten one top-tier guy on the free agent market - look - I may not be as happy as everyone else on this board apparently is about our recent signings, but I am lukewarmly (i know not a word) happy - however, the major areas of need on this team going into free agency were threefold - D-LINE (has been for years), WR and QB (did we get our QB of the future - no - we got a stopgap guy who could be successful - but needs people to throw the ball to) - so in essence we have given ourselves depth in areas where we were okay, but we have yet to address our most glaring needs - sign Holliday and find a way to get a ******* receiver - that way with the sixth pick - we can go anyway we want - depednign on who's there - be it CB, D-LINE OR WR. Address those needs - you have the money!

The article did say "as of Friday morning" so I would guess that is post-Emmit but pre-Cameron.

Who would you have liked us to sign?

We went after Colvin big time, Douglas declined to talk about a contract with us, Blake was the best available QB, and Boston has his issues.

We signed the best of the rest, what more do you want from the club?

This team has a lot of negative history, but you have to start somewhere, and unfortunately it's not all gonna happen in the same offseason. We do the best we can, hopefully pick up some more wins, and try to show enough promise to encourage other players to come in and help improve the team.

I just don't see how we could have spent much moremoney without being foolish about it.

Graves asked us to wait until camp to pass judgement, and so far I've seen enough action to belive that is a resonable request.

Keep in mind some of these problems might be taken care of after June 1st..... based on what I have seen so far, I encouraged that the team will address any remaining problems then..... They have done everything within their power to improve the team.... with the minor exception of receiving compensation for Boston.....not a big deal to me anymore..... I figure there must have been some major problems there.... as I recall the team indicated on and off the field. I stand behind the team with what they have decided to do as any dedicated fan would....

Agree with everything you said - to an extent - but have to take exception to your last statement - I will never blindly stand behind anything - I mean dedication is one thing - but blind support is another - as Americans our mantra is to question authority - I mean isn't that what made us Americans in the first place - leaving England and wanting to control our own lives. I just ask that you don't lump all people together and exclude others and that is what you basically did calling me a non-dedicated fan because I don't blindly stand behind this team and it's organization.

I think their information is old. We have substantially less than $21.4 left in my opinion...I quoted a philadelphia newspaper a week or two ago..and figured out later that their cap numbers were way off also (they had us for way too high of a number)... At this stage - it is pretty much impossible to tell what our cap is..exact figures on emmits (plus others) contract have not been released..and no one is clear on whether grutts has been cut or not. Jurecki has pegged us as having about $14 - $17 million left after emmitt - but even he is unsure - but his guess would be better than other sources at this stage..rookie cap will probably be more like $3.5 mil - $4 mil. we should have at least $10 - $13 mil (hopefully more) left after the rookie cap is deducted..assume holliday cost $4 mil and a veteran receiver $2 mil..we still have plenty of room to work with - even if holliday and a veteran receiver are signed.
