Larry Fitzgerald, Cards close to deal

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/12341629/larry-fitzgerald-sign-new-deal-arizona-cardinals

Larry Fitzgerald and the Cardinals are closing in on a multiyear deal that would enable the veteran wide receiver to finish his career in Arizona, league sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter and Josh Weinfuss.

The Cardinals had said that one of their top offseason priorities was restructuring Fitzgerald's current contract. The eight-time Pro Bowler was scheduled to make $16 million next season.

Cardinals president Michael Bidwill said last week that the team hoped to acquire a high-profile free agent with the salary-cap space freed up by reworking Fitzgerald's deal.

With #AZCardinals GM Steve Keim meeting media at 9:30 a.m. AZ time, Fitzgerald was already going to be topic. Definitely important now.

hopefully more info then.

Dragic leaves, but Fitz stays. Good work by Cards, terrible job by Suns.

Like I said before, if Fitz had forced his way out because he was unhappy with his role, then he was a fraud. I knew Fitz was more about the team than about Fitz. If is one of the few genuine good guys and I am so glad that he will be retiring as a Cardinal.

Good news in two ways-Larry finishes his career as a Cardinal and the Cardinals get salary cap space to acquire a free agent. Nothing like being the biggest newsmaker on day one of the combine. ;)

Hopefully the Cardinals can acquire an elite pass rusher, e.g. Jerry Hughes, with the additional cap space.

Never thought it would happen, let's just hope this doesn't end badly down the road because Cards are still gonna pay him mega$$$ for the rest of his days in red.

Good job Michael & Steve!!!

Boom. Fitz is a rare player that is willing to help out his team and do what it takes to stay with one team his entire career. So glad he is staying a Cardinal!
