No worries. At first I thought you meant Peyton Manning.

That would have been hilarious, considering they just traded Tebow to the Jets.

Goodell lowers boom on the Saints

Getty Images As expected, Commissioner Roger Goodell has hit the Saints hard for the bounty system that was employed for three seasons.
Per a league source, head coach Sean Payton has been suspended for the full year.
But it could have been worse for Payton. Former Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams has been suspended indefinitely. (Presumably, that means at least a year.)
Also, G.M. Mickey Loomis has been suspended for eight games.
More to come.

Brees likely holding out. Payton suspended. Saints falling to the bottom of the NFCS a real possibility?

The thing I find most disturbing & why the Taints got off light is because coaches, including HC Payton lied to NFL officials about this program.

Should've been worse!!!

You think they got off light?

This is monumental, IMO. HC suspended the entire season w/o pay. Williams potentially blackballed. Two 2nd round picks taken away. $1million total in fines.

And the player punishments have yet to be determined. The NFL has targeted 22 individual players for their roles in Bountygate. This is going to get uglier for the Saints before it gets better.

Their LB's/Assistant HC is also suspended for 8 games.

Also according to the reports after the NFLPA is done with their investigation, We could also see some more penalties, against some actual players, some still with the team and some not on the team anymore.

It isnt over yet.

I think Payton was staring down 4-6 games and Williams was looking at a year. Then they lied and the punishments grew to what they are.

Their Assistant HC also got suspended. Who the hell is gonna coach the Saints the first part of the season? And who is coaching against us in the HOF Game?

Payton will be fired. They aren't going to keep him around and have to hire another head coach. He's gone.

I would guess that Goodell would suspend the new coach if they did that. I think the whole point is this is supposed to be a HUGE deterrent so nobody else does this.

Personally, I thought the penalties were kind of light. Without knowing the details, Loomis and Payton should have gotten about double what they received and then it would have been fair. Whoever was the main instigator of the system should have been a permanent suspension and that would solve the issue of that recurring.

IMO should invloved a 1st, 2nd & loss of franchise tag this year. Peyton lied to the Commish & whomever during the investigation. Goodell preaches intregrity & that was totally ignored After the fact!!!
