Ok - Valverde in now. Why didn't he start the ninth?
Oropesa walked the only guy he faced!

I wonder if Mantei will be on the trading block? There are many teams looking for a closer.

I can understand why some people are thinking about trading Mantei, but who is going to take him with that salary next year and his health. I'd rather see them trade him than Curt.
Anybody know what the reality is about the trade for Schilling with Atlanta. We don't need another catcher, good hitter or not, who is a free agent at the end of the year.

Mantei's health will be the biggest issue for any team...including the Dbacks. Right now he is stuck in a rut of not being able to make through seasons. What team will take a closer if he is having problems playing an entire season? You can just about guarantee a contender won't go after him for that reason. They won't subject themselves to losing their closer as the playoffs start.

Right now, I think the likelihood of a trade of Schilling is very low. As the trading deadline approaches though that could change depending on where the Dbacks are in the standings. If it appears the playoffs are an impossibility, then trade away and get good value in return. Realistically, Schilling doesn't have alot more in the tank so why not stock up while his value is still up?

Seattle might be one team interested. The Mariners have injury problems with their closer, Sazaki, and may figure that with two closers, one will be healthy at all times.

Womack led off the first with a hit. I have a ballgame I have to play in so I won't be able to post during the game. Hopefully you guys will continue to talk about the game. It would be nice if we can get a lot of people posting on this thread during the Diamondback games, just like we do with the cardinals during football.

Way to go Papa Grande!!! MVP goes to Batista. He has been pitching lights out. They took the series and now it's back to BOB and the Reds.

I agree. They're one Erubiel Durazo away.

Win the series and only good things can come of it. They have tied ot won the last several series so things are pointed in the right direction. Coming home now. Hopefully a nice homestand will really get the ball rolling. I am going to the game on Saturday night...trying out the Front Row Grill this time. Hope I can bring them some luck.

wow! did you guys see the win today? awesome game! walkoff homer by cintron was amazing. and off williamson too, man, this guy is gonna be a star if he keeps this up. oh, and he's definitely not a craig counsell. counsell walks a LOT more, but cintron sure has some pop in there. imho, this guy should be an all-star.

dessens was mediocre, as usual, but the team pulled through on its worst starter's shift! we're now only 7 behind the gnats! bring it on! just need a little luck, and with johnson, schilling, prinz and hillenbrand, i'm really excited for our dbacks.

i'm just worried about villareal. he looks overworked. he's allowed a bit too many runs recently...

YES!!! That was a great 9th inning. The Cardiac Diamondbacks did it again in the 9th. Tony had a great game and way to go Alex with that game-winning home run. Seven games behind for first place.

There is still three and a half months left and many of the guys who are on the DL will soon be joining the team again. The Diamondbacks are back on the radar and they're moving fast.

Great start to tonight's game. Nice to see Finley get two runs in with two outs. The Diamondbacks took a 3-0 lead but now the Reds have cut it to 3-2 in the 4th.

The Reds had tied the game at 3 but Chad hit a 2-run home run to put the Daimondbacks up 5-3. Patterson was just taken out in the 8th. John pitched very well, striking out 7 and walking only one. What was most impressive was he let the bullpen have some rest. Koplove should pitch the 9th. Papa Grande needs some rest.

Well, Brenly brought in Papa Grande and he got another save. The Diamondbacks are now over the 500 mark for the first time this year!

MVP of this game goes to John Patterson. John needed to pitch well tonight and he did. Props also to Chad and Steve. The season is gettting more exciting and interesting.

As for tomorrow, Good needs to be good against Dempster. Also, I hope Brenly gives Papa Grande a day off.

Lets hope we have a large enough lead so we don't need Señor Grande.

I was at the game last night and was quite impressed with the way Patterson pitched. I am sure it made it easier that he was spotted a 3 run lead in the first so that gave him some leeway and allowed him to really go after it. Also was impressed with Moellers HR. Great game.

I have been saying for some time now, the Dbacks just need to win each series and if they do only good things can come of that. Well, they have won this series now and they have a chance to really do something with a sweep.

While I am not ready to say this team is playoff caliber just yet, they seem to have righted the ship somewhat. The big question will be how this team fares as some of the experienced guys get back inot the fold.

Well Good does not look good today. Four runs in the first and now it's the top of the 5th and it's 5-1. The Diamondbacks had a chance to get back in it but a big strikeout by Hammock and an out by Grace with the bases loaded ended the inning. Grace has really struggled this year, he is hitting a little over 200. I am surprised Overbay is not starting because he has been hitting very well lately. Maybe Grace will make me eat my words.

Way to go Finley. Just hit a 3-run home run to make the score 5-4 Reds in the 5th. Still a lot of game left.
