I have had it with Rodriguez as the third base coach. He is absolutely the worst. Hammock would of scored if he did not change his mind and hold him. There were two outs so you send him.

Grace kind of made me eat my words with the sacrifice fly. 6-5 Diamondbacks in the 8th.

Great comeback! Props to the bullpen and way to go Papa Grande! MVP goes to Finley for his home run that got the team back into the game.

First sweep of the year and another series! Also, the Giants and the Dodgers lost today. Only 6 games behind.

They're playing better than I ever expected. Chalk it up to youthful exuberance, solid pitching, and the absence of a certain heckled hall of famer turned jobless joke. In related news, the D-Backs are 12-6 since throwing the marine overboard. Still on the hook for his $10 million retirement fund. I guess if he’s going down he might as well take a sizable chunk of the D-Backs limited funds with him.
Loser.

I'm going to be nice because RLakin told the truth for me.

All I can say is, I LIKE these young Dbaks even though I am not one of those who believes we can make the playoffs. I don't care. I love the effort, the exuberance, and the way the veterans have been energized.

What is the guy supposed to do, say to the D-backs, "since you cut me loose, forget the money you owe me"? Like you would do that. The guy is gone, get over it.

No kidding. Get over it. What's your personal beef with Matt Williams, anyway? Did the guy hit on your girl?

Diamondbacks record from 2000-2003 (three seasons plus this year):

Without Williams on active roster: 123-76 (.620)
With Williams: 189-171 (.525)

The way I look at it, he owes them some money.

mark mcguire did. so much for that theory.

well, honestly speaking, though i do deride matty often, i suppose it wouldn't hurt to recognize that he did help us win that world championship. no matty that year, no championship. and for that, he deserves a lot of credit. and like bob said, he's gone. let it go. no point banging on the guy. if you think about it, the only real reason to rag on the guy was to pressure him to get off. well he's gone. so thanks, matty. sometimes it was good, sometimes it was awful. anyway, goodbye.

I'm guessing you still spank your dog three weeks after he pees on the carpet too.

Back to the non-Williams stuff. This was an important sweep and the Dbacks are really having things go right for them now. I heard on the radio last night that the Dbacks have beaten the Reds 14 times in a row. Could that be right?

There is an energy to this team right now and I think it is spurring everyone on. All the slamming (by the experts the last few years) of the Dbacks minor league system seems to have been misplaced This is very positive that when guys were injured, there were youngsters who stepped in and did well.

Here comes HOU for 3 games then a much needed day off. Let's get 2 of 3.

Yes, the Dbacks have beaten the Reds fourteen games in a row - quite a streak!!

The Dbacks are 35-25 since their horrendous start. The Gnats are 31-29 in that same period. And, for most of it, we are doing it without Johnson and Schilling!

Great inning for Webb. He only throws 10 pitches. By the way, before the game Tommy Jones was talking highly about Bob Brunney of the Sidewinders. He said he is next in line as the closer. I wonder if he is the real deal if the Diamondbacks will seriously try to trade Mantei? Also, Chad Tracy made the Futures Game.

The young guys keep doing the job. Kata gets the double and Cintron knocks him in. 1-0!

You have been pounding the podium on this trading Mantei thing lately. In your opinion, what do you think they could get for Mantei?

As for me, it might not be much due to his recent injury woes. Teams need closers but not closers on the DL. I think the Dbacks should at a minimum try to do it but I just question how lucrative that trade will be. The Dbacks don't HAVE to trade anyone. At this point, any trades they make are because they have an offer they cannot pass up. Once players start returning from the DL, there will be depth available and no huge reason to broker a trade.

I would love to see a big bat brought on board though. Someone in the middle of the lineup who has power and strikes some fear in opposing pitchers.

I dont think thats the case for Mantei. If we can even get a decent offer we should take it. Hes getting payed a ton right now and has a player option for more money next year, you know hes not going to pass that up. So if we can get rid of his salary and get some prospects in return we should do it.

Astros take the lead 2-1. Alex should of either played that pop up in front of him or he should of dived for it. It's time for the Cardiac Diamondbacks to get it going.

Webb pitches another beauty but can't win because of the lack of run support. I guess he picked up where Kim left off.

Is anyone else starting to believe that this team is gonna be something special? Now I might have just watched the 2001 Championship DVD, but you get Randy, Curt and Hildebrand on this team, along side the fact that they felt robbed last year of defending their championship due to injuries - and I think something good's brewing here.

Don't forget guys like Spivey, Bautista, Mantei, Koplove and Prinz returning. Brenley sure has some tough decisions to make. I still think they can make a big trade for a home run hitter.
