The only way Mondesi will be a Diamondback next year is if he accepts a contract worth a few million a year.

Diamondbacks win and take the series from the Rockies. MVP goes to Randy. He looked like the old Randy, pitching a complete game one-hitter while striking out 12.

Next up the Dodgers. Let's take at least 2 of 3 from them and really put a damper in their hopes of making the playoffs.

I'd love to dash the hopes of the Dodgers!

The only reasons I'm still excited about the DBacks is for that, and the fact they are coming to Milwaukee and I'm going to see them play the Brewers.

I was sort of getting worried about RJ but this was definately a good game for him. Hopefully the team can get something to build on for next year

with RJ and Curt both healthy next year - I can't believe I;m saying this - but they still have shot - add in Webb and another year of stronger Mantei and pitching wise this team is nails. One bat is all that's needed. We take another Mulligan this year - like we did in 200 and come back hopefully healthy, with a new batting coach and go at it again next year.

I think we need 2 bats. A leadoff hitter and a power hitter.

A 1-hit shutout and 2-4 at the plate. Way to go, RJ!

I'm still hoping to see Randy pitch a Perfect Game with a record 21 strikeouts (and his first HR) before he retires.

Diamondbacks win 3-2! This thread does not want to end just yet. MVP's go to Curt and Junior. It's great to beat the Dodgers and hurt their playoff hopes.

The Phillies beat the Marlins 5-4 so if the Diamondbacks win tonight they're 4.5 out. I know it's a looooooong shot but it's fun to dream.

Great picture of Randy going back to the dugout after his home run.

Diamondbacks win 10-4!!! Valverde gets a double in his first career at-bat. Maybe he should be used as a pinch-hitter?:)

This thread is almost history. What is the magic number for the Diamondbacks to be officially eliminated?

As of Monday morning, the Dbacks are 81-75. The most wins they can finish with is 87. (So sad, for a team that was 54-42 on July 18th.)

The Marlins and Phillies both have 85 wins. If either wins 3 more games, they'll have 88 and eliminate the Dbacks.

Ergo, the magic # for either Florida or Philly to eliminate the Dbacks is 3.

Repeat for the Cubs or Dodgers if desired.
