I'm assuming that Kent Somers is correct, but I thought it was 14.6M under. It's only 2.6M, hell you can only get Wilkinson and Molden for chump change like that.

Comparisons to the D-Backs are misleading – many of those attending are on season ticket bought long ago for a team that in the preseason many picked to win the west and go to the World Series. Also, the Unit was pitching, and they are playing LA. Many, many LA transplants here in town.

As for the Cardinals, I think that there was an expectation that with the most cap money of any team to spend in the offseason, the Cardinals were in position to dramatically overhaul the team. Unfortunately, the perception is that they really didn’t get anywhere. This has led to the conclusion yet again that ownership is only interested in the money, not a winning team. This perception is reinforced by the fact that there is still $12 mm left to spend, which is something like 4x the nearest team.

I also think there is a feeling of betrayal, as many had thought that with the new stadium being good to go, ownership’s level of aggressiveness in getting players would go up. When that didn’t happen, I know many that concluded that things will never change.

This is a tough market – it probably is barely large enough to support all four major pro sports and a division one college program. Add to that the fact that something like 40% of the population moved here in the last 10 years from somewhere else, it only makes it tougher. If you dont win, they wont come.

That is the best post on this thread.

$75M - $12.0M = $63.0M
By the time any free agent scrubs are claimed off the waiver wire, there won't be anything left to "direct deposit" into his account except for what he's made on all 17K of us lunatics.

Sec 11 -- a small error. The salary cap is defined as 63% of league wide revenues. So if $75 mm is the cap per team, league wide revenues average $119mm per team. If 85% of it is shared, Bill gets a check from the NFL for $101 mm. The money is there.

I dropped my tix. Not because I don't love the team. But, because I HATE having my Sunday's ruined.

I could swallow it a little more if I thought management was "capable" and giving 100%. They aren't. And, never have been. The fans have never been given a fair shake.

I'll still go to a few games, but I'll be damned if I'm forced to go just because I plunked down up front money.

I no longer have any hope. I've grown accustomed to losing our top players after only a few years. We are the Montreal Expos of the NFL. Is it a coincindence that players "chatter" about this franchise when they leave?

I'm not a bandwagon fan. I'll always be watching on Sundays somewhere. I'm just one of many who are turned off by the YEARS of mismanagement.

There. I guess that officially makes me a "DarkSider".

P.S. If the Bidwill's EVER become PROACTIVE, I'll purchase season tix again. That's all it will take.

Excellent post. I hate the crap about being a "real" fan, only if you are purchasing season tix, supporting every move of the team, etc, etc....... Who is it that determines who is a "real" fan anyway?

I consider myself to be a true fan. But, the fact that I do purchase season tickets has nothing to do with it. And, you don't have to support every move of the team either. There's no logical reason I can give for my support of the team beyond mental illness. I love live NFL football and I love the Cardinals. It's insanity I tell ya.

I feel the same way. I can't explain to others why I still live and die with every move, every year of disaster, every stupid personnel move. I really think there must be something wrong with all of us. Perhaps gluttons for punishment?

Well, "fan"is short for "fanatic" remember. Living and dying for a club such as the Cards every fall is , at best, pretty irrational. There really isn't any sense that can be made out of it, it's just something that you live with. I love the Cards, always will, but I can't give any sort of sensible explanation as to why.

Fandom for a club is just something in your blood. Just with the Cards, we tend to bleed more than others.

Noone around to complain. It is like my own personal football game.

The Cardinals lost the first decision in arbitration. They won the second decision ON A TECHNICALITY IN CONTRACT LAW.

The Cardinals are morallly and ethically wrong for the suit for the following reasons:

1) They are sueing a non-profit entity.

2) They are sueing a state funded entity, when the state just gave them a stadium.

3) They are sueing on a technicality.

4) The signage was put up to pay for stadium improvements that benefitted the Cardinals, and which they did not pay for. In other words, they're sueing us over money we put back into the stadium to improve their fans' experience. You should be thanking us, but instead you're going to sue like the Cardinals.

5) They have grossly over calculated their 'damages' and even went so far as to claim 'damages' which are not valid under contract law. These will be thrown out, but the fact is that they went after the throat of ASU when if they would have negotiated in good faith with ASU from the outset, ASU probably would have come to a settlement with them.

6) Based on reading the legal papers that are available, it is apparent to me that the Cardinals intended to sue from the get-go, but were only waiting to get the stadium passed so that they wouldn't get any bad pub from the suit. Consider that the Cardinals made one comment about the signage, to which ASU responded. They then waited over 2 years until 9 days after the vote to respond to ASU's response, and they responded by sueing ASU.

Sorry that you don't like the truth, but there it is.

If you want more truth, look at how the Cardinals treat their own players and fans? You think they would treat their bread and butter that way and be people of good conscience?

I dropped mine for a few reasons:

- I had two tickets, and my family didn't like going every week. I had a hard time giving away a free ticket, in the loge. A couple times I had to eat the ticket, it was ridiculous.

- With all the empty seats, I can get the same seat I normally had on a walkup basis. Why feel like I had to go to the preseason games? Why pay for a lousy game at the end of the season when both teams have packed it in?

-What finally did it for me was when they raised ticket prices, and then left $12 million in cap money sitting out there, leaving some huge holes on the team. If the team wasn't going to invest their money, I wasn't going to invest mine. If there is a change in attitude by the team when they get into the new stadium, I'll have plenty of time to re-up my season tickets, and get good seats. It ain't like I'm worried about losing my place in line.

They're one of the most underachieving programs in all of college football. What's not to denigrate?

Actually when I was there Tuesday night, there were almost 41,000 fans there. Never heard appluse from the so-called Dodger fans. In fact, one would guess there to be less than 2,000 Dodger fans in attendance. Probably about the same in any ballpark around this country.

BOB is no where near the likes of Sun Devil Stadium where 50% of the crowd is cheering for the other team. Us Cardinal fans like to say that all the local teams draw 50% of the visiting team's fans, but we're simply not being truthful...it just makes us feel better. :)

The D-Backs are done this year, and are quit frankly boring! Cardinal fans always say you need to "win" to get fans. True, but obviously winning isn't everything. It's all about perception and image. :)
