It was funny and all that Pat Burke got cheered for when he came in the game. Unfortunately some where along the way he deluded himself into thinking he was anything other than a bit player.

"I don't think it was worthy of anything. It's three minutes of just walking out there and not even really getting an opportunity to be a part of it. But the reason I can't complain, too, is I never play with Steve Nash or these guys, even in practice, so it was kind of an awkward feeling even to be out there. There were a lot of plays I didn't know because I hadn't walked through it, because only the starters walk through certain plays."

You don't think it was worthy of anything to be given a chance to be productive in a crucial game 5?

I think if Mike D'Antoni had tried to develop Pat Burke and Marcus Banks into bench players they would've been both very solid 10 minute a game players. Unfortunately he didn't and at times this year it hurt the Suns.

Screw Burke. A 10th or 11th or 12th man or whatever the hell he is should be grateful for a spot on an elite team, not grouching about how he's behind Amare Stoudemire and Kurt Thomas on the depth chart. Get a freaking clue.

Sorry he is 33, still not much developing going on there.

His role was practice dummy, locker room guy, and 3rd string big man.

Why the hell would he think he should be out running plays with Nash anyway?

The offseason goals:
1. Get salaries under $70 mil
2. Add a go-to scorer or someone who can hit the clutch 3 pointer in the 4th quarter
3. Add tough rebounder/defender to shed the "soft" label

I'm probably going to get flamed for this...but we could easily replace Burke....with Danny Fortson (quit laughing)...

...he made $6.5 mil last year and he's now an unrestricted free agent...and Seattle is trying to shed salary (they are losing money and have had discussions about leaving Seattle)...so he doesn't get resigned. We could get him for a part of the MLE (if we shed salary elsewhere).

Why?
He runs surprisingly well for a fat ass...no endurance you say? Correct...but he'll only play in 4-5 minute spurts. He's one of the best rebounders in the League per minutes played...and he's an expert cheap shot artist.

Don't want to stoop to that level? BS. The League made it very clear how the game is played. Combining Fortson with Raja would send a clear message that the days of roughing Nash up are over. You knee Nash in the groin? See how Timmy likes eating a Fortson elbow.

And tell me you wouldn't like to see Duncan struggle as he wears the 260lbs whale for around 20 minutes a game. Some games he wouldn't play...but if a team tries to play hack-a-Nash...then we sic Fortson on their star.

Danny Fortson
Doubtful Fortson would come here after Jerry Colangelo went after him with pickforks and torches after he thuggishly injured Zarko. I don't really want him here either because he's a blatant thug (even though the NBA rewards that).

Burke doesn't even get to play with Nash in practice? That's a little odd. I would think they would mix things up.

Hard to feel sorry for a guy complaining about not receiving a shot when he turned the time he was given into a circus show.

Look at this career stats at Yahoo. He basically wasn't throwing up 3s until this season.

This ****** should count his lucky stars.

While the problem though is twofold, meaning Antoni could've put a stop to that sooner rather than letting it continue.

Hopefully he is gone for a big, beefy tough guy who'll come in and rebound. Jahidi White Jahidi White Jahidi White

I'd even love to get Lil Jake back.

Sean Marks, Jumaine Jones, Eric Piatowski, Jalen Rose, Dan Dickau, I might even add Marcus Banks, but I need to give him another year.

Most of the Memphis Grizzlies team.

The Valley so low.
If Burke wasn't worth developing during the year, then why was he out playing meaningful minutes of Game 5 of the playoffs? Perfect evidence of D'Antoni's shortsightedness--sure, you don't expect two suspensions, but injuries can come in the same way.

No fantasy trade would work on this board if we get rid of Burke. Do we still have the rights to Vujanic that people can use in fake trades?

We still own the rights to Vujanic and his two blown ACLs, worthing slightly more than a bag of potatoes, just like Pat Burke.
