I would LOVE for us to draft Odrick, but I don't think we can spend a high pick on him. He'd be a 3-4 end for us and, while we could definitely use the depth and developmental player, we have too many pressing needs elsewhere.

Muckleroy is underrated.

Tebow has the best deep ball in this draft. I said it.

Eric Norwood styling on the RBs in blocking drills.

Cameron Sheffield looked good in coverage.

Jimmy Graham looked good in blocking, but crumbled a bit when he got beat up on his release. Caught a nice deep throw from Tebow.

Jarret Brown is standing out amongst a medicore QB crowd. Definite difference in his throws compared to the rest of the guys. More zip on the ball and good accuracy. Give him time and he'll flourish.

Lindley tried to jam a receiver and got embarrassed. It was BAD. Really bad. And what made it worse was that Tebow almost threw it out of bounds with the wiiiide open receiver.

As I understand it; the problem is that in the NFL he'll never be able to get the throw off. He winds up from his hip or lower even, especially on a long throw. That's a turnover waiting to happen in the big league...

His release is still terrible, but if he gets the ball out it's a beauty - the deep throw that is, his other stuff not so much. In general, while he looks better than yesterday, he still looks off at time and has thrown a few passes that were just bad.

Forget the wind up and release for now, he needs to start at square one and get the snap and drop back.

Baby steps.

(and for the record, I think he's absolutely capable of learning how to be an NFL QB...but it's going to be at least a couple of years...the best thing for Tebow would be for Parcells to draft him. That guy is patient, can incubate talent and knows when to let it loose ...ie. Romo; Henne).

the best CB i have seen is the guy from Virginia. I don't know his name and they never talk about him but, when i've been watching, he has covered whoever they have put in front of him. I didn't see the south practice but on the north i thought Iupati was, again, a complete moster at guard. Lefevour threw the ball well. I'm really liking Brandon Graham for the Cards at 26. The NT from North Carolina could be a nice 3rd/4th round pick. A guy who i have been looking for and haven't noticed is Edds. The only time i'v really seen him, he got stoned in the pass rush drill yesterday by a RB. If Ed Hickson can block at all he'll move up in the draft.

Here's some video of Tim Tebow's throwing motion at the Senior Bowl. There's a segment where he's throwing with the other QBs at the same time. Compare the lengths of delivery.

Sooooo slooooow. Not a lot of zip on his ball either, at least not enough to attempt to compensate for the lengthy delivery a la Leftwich.

Chris Cook is the CB from UVA that i was talking about. He's big at 6'2 212 but his 40 is listed at 4.54. That's not horrible for a guy his size. He's projected a 5th rounder. I'd take him right now in round 5.

Corners Impressing
There are so many good cornerbacks here in Mobile. One of them, Chris Cook of Virginia, as all over an out pattern from Tony Pike, and picked off the ball. The pass was intended for Pike's college teammate, WR Mardy Gilyard. Cook certainly looks the part at 6-2, 212, and displayed
outstanding quickness and recognition throughout the 11-on-11 drills.

Iupati and Graham are two of my favorites right now, but I don't think
Graham translates to OLB in 3/4. They'd probobly be inclined to go with S. Weatherspoon more.

For the DT from NC he'll probably go in the 2nd. He was a pre-season possible #1.

28. Marvin Austin, DT North Carolina (Jr.)
Preseason Skinny: Big, explosive, and very, very productive, he'll be the key interior presence in a very good NC defensive line. (Scout.com).

I'm no judge of football talent whatsoever, but that was the weirdest looking mechanics for a QB I've ever seen. More like a pitcher winding up for an overhand fast ball or something.....

Lions offensive coordinator Scott Linehan believes that Idaho OG Mike Iupati has been "obviously, the best player (at Senior Bowl week)."

Packers personnel at the Senior Bowl are keeping a close eye on West Virginia OT Selvish Capers, who has shown good feet on the practice field.

Some of us were talking about Iupati after seeing him in Idaho's bowl game. The guy is one of those "Planet People". He was blocking two guys at once.

I even posted on ASFN that if Iupati had been playing G for Texas UT'd have beaten Nebraska 34-12.

Tebow is going to have to completely rework his throwing the way Pariah was mentioning. His college passing numbers are very deceptive because of the team and system he was in. Talent all over the field, and the defense constantly assuming if Tebow has the ball, he's going to run. So he was usually throwing to WIDE open guys, accuracy wasn't a big deal the WR could literally wait for the throw if it was late.

In the NFL it's all about very small windows, that's what makes Warner or Brees or Manning so great they can deliver the ball accurately in such tight openings.

Personally I think Tebow won't make it at QB in the NFL but he's certainly worth taking a shot on at some point. I think taking him in the first round would be a mistake for anybody though.

Tebow has some god awful mechanics. His delivery is so slow, secondaries will have a field day if that doesn't get completely reworked.

I still have the nightmares of his shirt off picture in my head but I have to be honest, Terrance "Mount" Cody is really growing on me. Not a single Interior OL or even double team from the interior OL can move this guy. He is immovable and getting a push at the same time. He is imposing his will.

I don't care if he cant rush the passer that's the last thing I am looking for in a 3-4 NT. I just want a guy who cant be moved in the run game and gets even a little push in the pass game is just gravy.

What can Lott do with this guy???

I have to think that Cody's career will probably mirror Shaun Rogers. A force when he wants to be, and a constant struggle to keep at decent weight. At where we pick in the draft, I would take that.

I'm liking Mount Cody, Dan Williams, Sean Weatherspoon, and Brandon Graham in the game so far. Zac Robinson would also be a nice addition late in the draft.

I really hope we can get Sean Weatherspoon at our spot in the 1st round. He will definitely soften the possible loss of Dansby.

Brandon Graham should be the consensus first round pick for us imo. We can get Cody with a early 2nd via Boldin trade due to concerns about his weight which should be easily fixed by John Lott.

Here is the think with Graham though. I just don't think he can make the switch to OLB. The guy needs to play with his hand on the ground IMO.

Now that doesn't mean we still couldn't take him but if we did I think he should play Berry's old spot and not OLB. Berry rarely if ever actually played standing up, 90% of his playing time was with him as a 4-3 or 3-4 DE on passing downs with his hand on the ground.

Concerning Cody I think he gets taken off the board faster then people think. There are a ton of 3-4 teams now and that list might grow in 2010. 3-4 NT just might be the hardest position to find in a 3-4 so his services might go off the board faster then people think. Especially if he loses another 20-30 pounds by the end of Feb. for the combine. Plus besides the weigh in coaches and scout liked what they saw from Cody and the senior bowl practices.

Concerning 3-4 OLB and the transition of those players from DE to OLB. Interesting facts from walterfootball.com

"but teams are much more hesitant to take rush linebackers now because the conversion is so unpredictable. Just look at last year's results - no one in the top 15 selections took a rush linebacker. The Chargers (No. 16), Broncos (18) and Packers (26) went with one, but only Green Bay's selection (Clay Matthews) has panned out thus far.

It wasn't just last year; in 2008, the Jets were burnt by Gholston. They were the only team to gamble on a rush linebacker in the first round. I think some of these 3-4 guys will take a tumble come April. "

Gotta love Taylor Mays hearing all week he doesn't play the ball so what's he do, stops the last drive of the first half with an INT in the endzone.
