and he did not initially come onto the court with the team. But when he was introduced, his teammates sensed he needed a pick-me-up and mobbed him while rubbing his head. Then, he did his thing.

Even with all the BS we've gone through this season, sometimes it seems kind of hard to not love the guys on this team. Shaq himself said this is the first team he's EVER been on where everyone genuinely likes each other, gets a long, and hangs out together. Hopefully that's enough to get him out of this thing, cause history has shown that unhappy Shaq off the court = bad news on the court.

Shaq is not only an ambassador to the game, but the media eats out of his hand. He knows this and he is using this to his advantage

The host brought this up. He said during the game he looked like he was having fun. So why try to create this drama after the game, especially after what the team has gone through lately?

I can't see any reason for him to pull this kind of crap.

That's why I think it's gotta be a big "F U" to the media for stirring the pot (which, really, is where most "rumors" come from--not the front office). The team played well and he was a big part of that.

I overreacted I will admit it. Shaq is a contender he isn't going to let the media embarrass him he will bounce back and fight the celtics with the team.

Sarver has openly admitted on the local radio in two interviews that he was ready to trade Shaq to Cleveland for Ben Wallace and a first round pick. Had they not played well the last two games, it was a done deal.

So no, it was not a media created thing.

Was that shortly after Barbosa talked and they had the guy on who dissed Leonard lol? I knew I should have listened to the whole thing...
Radio post game. The show that you turned off too early. I am sure we will hear plenty about it soon enough.

You may not know this Andrew, but there are some people who put a lot of stock in what Shaq says and does.

Well, couldn't Shaq have taken it as meaning that it gets the Suns financial relief, but it also sends him to a team that is one of the favored teams to win the title? I mean, it's not like they were talking about trading him to Memphis.

Shaq was never going to be a Cavalier, and we all know that.

Shouldn't he have a right to be pissed if he was traded? He has done nothing but help this team...

Yeah he should have taken it that way. Instead he is going to tell reporters that he "Isn't a part of this team anymore" and clear out his locker.

What possible good can come of that for the Suns?

Andrew....Sarver has said repeatedly to the local media that Shaq was going to be traded to Cleveland.

The owner said that. It's not something the media made up. And upset about being traded. Sure.

Packing up and saying he isn't part of the team anymore. No.

He has a right, but he said all All-Star weekend that it was a business and that that was the way it goes.

He's mad that he wasn't traded - he wants out.

I never heard Sarver say that, the only time I even knew about that was when the rumor was brought up here. Was it a sure thing?

When did he say he wasn't a part of this team? If he did, couldn't he like suck out on the court on purpose? He had a hell of a game tonight...

There is audio on the KTAR website.

Here is the blurb about it:

Suns majority owner Robert Sarver joined Gambo & Ash Thursday afternoon and told them the trade deadline had passed and the Suns made no trades. Sarver also mentioned that the team was very close to making a deal that could have saved the team nearly $20 million dollars. Instead, the team will stay in tact and work to make a run at the playoffs.

I listen to KTAR all day at work. I have heard Sarver have two different interviews where he reiterated that Shaq was the one to be traded, not Amare.

Obviously I can't listen to KTAR that much because I am out of state and it only works on nba.com when there is a game, I am gonna have to go give that a listen.

I took that Sarver interview differently. Shaq was part of trade talks, just like everybody else on the roster but Nash. Shaq is probably angry at the fact that his name was out there...

It's been two games.
They did talk to him right after the @Clippers game on the court.

I would have hated that trade, but then again I'm all about what is best for the team right now! ;)

Well, the Laker fans all warned us about this, but I wasn't expecting it until this summer.
