I'd also be in favor of any deal that involves swapping Shaq for T.Chandler.
As has been said,an Amare/Chandler up front would be a nice mesh imo. Whatever problems Chandler has had w/his foot etc could be minimalized by our miracle worker training staff. It'd be nice to put them to work on somebody under 35 for a change.

Change in Team Outlook: +4.3 ppg, +4.6 rpg, and 0.0 apg.
Incoming Players
Tyson Chandler
7-1 C from Dominguez (HS)
8.8 ppg, 8.7 rpg, 0.5 apg in 32.1 minutes
Peja Stojakovic
6-9 SF / SG from Serbia-Montenegro (Foreign)
13.3 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 1.2 apg in 34.2 minutes
Outgoing Players
Shaquille O'Neal
7-1 C from LSU
17.8 ppg, 8.4 rpg, 1.7 apg in 30.0 minutes

Shaq for Chandler and Peja works, I like the spacing as well!!

Chandler
Amare
Peja
Richardson
Nash

Keep playong SSOL, and this team would be bad ass!! The Suns have been missing a steady 3 point machine, With Richardson, Peja and Rich, return of the 3 bombs!! Tired of Hill at the 3, Suns have been missing the 3 ball big time, Chandler is a Rebounding Shot blocking machine, He fits great with the Running Suns, DO this trade and this team is back on track!

Would it make us better? Yes. Champion contenders? No.

I really hope we acquire young pieces when we sell off even if it is only upside players instead of vets in a vain attempt to keep things going.

In the event we couldn't get a Chandler, I'd agree. Still, look at the west...outside of the Lakers, would you say anyone 2-8 is significantly better than us? San Antonio with a healthy Ginobili yes, but I think our defense as a whole would be much better.

We're still the best offensive team in basketball, with a few additions in the draft and FA, I really think we could be a contender in the west.

Some of you are dreaming with these scenarios. Chandler, Wright and a 2010 first for Shaq? Kerr is our GM not theirs.

Why would NO trade two starters for a 36 year old?

Come on man, at least swap posey in for a halfway realistic proposal.

If there's an O'Neal/Chandler trade, the filler is Morris Peterson. It's New Orleans who would need extra compensation from the straight-up deal, not Phoenix.

I don't think you can say that. NO is really strapped for cash next year, and with the failing economy and the poor city they are in, they will be looking desperately to dump salary. Having an expiring contract like Shaq's would give us some leverage in this situation.

Right...Mo Pete would seem to be the logical filler and could give the Suns a decent 2-3 player for 20 minutes who can spread the floor and hit a 3. If Kerr could somehow pull this off, I'd be on his bandwagon. I really think Chandler is exactly what they need.

But O'Neal can't help them with their payroll for next season. The only savings for them would be in 2010-11.

Some, but not nearly as much as if they were saving the Hornets two years of Chandler's salary instead of only one. The Hornets would be better off holding Chandler until the next deadline to see if they could get a value trade for him first.

Chandler is damage goods, Peja is on the downside of his carreer, Shaq is a big name and great way too dump salary after getting him off there books next year, My trade is far from far fetched, Peja and Chandler had bad numbers last year, Shq almost out produced them statistically himself.

In one of my proposals, in Re-Building Suns thread..

I posted New Orleans Hornets as target, with O'Neal going for Chandler and filler.

Many seemed to have liked that and it made sense.

I do not mind the trade.. if it goes through.

But Chadler is a player that has a lot of DNP in his career... he is young, and with Suns training staff and his youth he might be a good direction, if the Suns do not completely re-tool.

Stoudemire leaves, Suns still have a decent line-up with money to throw around.

I would still prefer the Suns to start young, as I do not want them to be stuck competing just for the playoffs.

C: Chadler
PF: Stoudemire
SF: Hill
SG: Richardson
PG: Nash

looks good on paper.

I am unequivocally in favor of a Chandler acquisition over any other player this offseason. I don't even care if they waive the physical. Look at Hill. Hell, look at Shaq!!! They can get Chandler moving. We'll have a 13/12 C who doesn't need plays run for him to be effective....

The Shaq to NO trade makes sense on all levels:

NO gets a huge expiring contract that will help them in the long run

PHX gets younger and a player that gives them what they need defense and rebounding.

Shaq was a college star at LSU and would probably love to return and especially play with a player like Chris Paul.

It seems like most everyone agrees with the trade. However, like Foster, I don't think the Suns should be looking for too much more, like a first round draft pick in return.

What is surprising is that the Hornets fans love the idea:

(I don't have enough of a post count to post links)

Either this is a no-brainer, and the Suns should extract a 1st rounder out of them -- or Chandler's more seriously hurt than we understand.

They should be. This proposed trade works well for both teams IMO.

On a side note, I wonder if Shaq will be suspended for the first game of next season (wherever he may be) for that flagrant against the Warriors.

I would just chalk it up as a match made in Heaven for both sides. As a self professed Amare hater, I would LOOOOOOVE to have a lineup like such:

Nash-Richardson-Hill-Stoudemire-Chandler

With Barbosa, Posey, Dragic, Dudley, Lopez, Amundson off the bench? Are you kidding? Sign me up RIGHT now!!!!!

This trade is probably the only one everyone has pretty much agreed on, not only on this board, but both teams in general (well, except Andrew lol).

Kerr, I'm pullin' for ya, get this one done!
