If it comes down to DE Stewart vs DE/LB Walker vs DT Nolen I’m going with the physical anomaly in Stewart. Will be a 21 year old rookie to start the season. The lack of production pops out but it’s not like we’re not picking top-10 and the physical upside is too salivating. @Ouchie-Z-Clown pointed out he’s slimmer which is true but he wore his playing weight & Sr Bowl weight pretty well before the combine.

Picking Stewart is incredibly risky, and a risk I doubt Monti will take. His production based on his measurables is laughable.

Or Monti could be looking at it like he’d be a top-5 pick next year if he returned to A&M. Again we’re talking about him likely being the 5th+ edge off the board.

Top 5 picks match productivity and measurables. Having 1.5 sacks every year for 3 years shows consistency, but not the consistency anyone wants. Garrett had similar measurables and averaged almost 11 sacks per year. If he's so talented, why can't he get to the QB in college?

Someone will surely talk themselves into Stewart for the obvious reasons, but I personally don't like taking the risk.

With those choices our defense would be better served by getting Nolen and adding an edge in round 2

Anybody else get the feeling Monti would pass on Mike green and pierce because they are concerned about character issues? Not saying he should pass on them…I could see the panthers bringing pierce home and the falcons take green anyway….if I had to guess right now I would say the pick at 16 is mykell Williams …Stewart or Nolan…

I watched several videos of Stewart and was not impressed. Grated, I don’t know what his role was but even when he got to the QB, he doesn’t make the sack. I’d rather go OL or DT.

I think Monti and JG are going to love Shemar Stewart. He's smart, high character and a physical freak. Versatile too, which is something they seem to like. His physical profile means he can play 7 or 5 making him an every down player for their front. Can also use him inside on passing downs.

If you want early contributions then he's a safer bet than a lot of the other guys, a lot of the smaller, lighter guys like Green are going to struggle physically in the NFL for a while. Stewart is already fully grown. Even if he can't win initially with technique he's going to F things up with power. If you were to ask which which guy is most likely to get 7 sacks in year one except Carter I'd probably go with Stewart. The question for me is about his ceiling. Can he improve his technique so he can win multiple ways and become a 12-15 sack guy?

I still think he's gone by #16.

My concern about Donovan Ezeiruaku is that he didn't look quick on tape, and him going to to combine and testing but skipping the 40 tells me that he knows it.

Not sure I feel great about a 248lb guy that I would guess runs around 4.7. At Princely had the good grace to show us he wasn't fast.

A lot of his high sack numbers are inside moves against crappy tackles I'm not sure he gets away with in the NFL. Not sure where I stand with him.

There's lots of instances on his film of him getting the the QB but the QB throwing it away or duking/running out of his grip. Teams are going to see that and know it's fixable.

It's not like he isn't beating tackles or getting pressures, his issue has been converting them to sacks.

Yep stewart will be too hard to resist for some team early…kind of similar to a man finding out a gorgeous woman making 6 figures and no baggage is interested in him…who could resist? ….same with Stewart….the speed …the power..the motor…the character( heard him say in an interview his goal is to help others) ….he had a lot of pressures and chases hard…if mykell…Stewart and Nolan are off the board and we are not interested in the lighter pierce or green how about scourton? I would be cool with him ….

#1: Can you answer the question asked? He was a 1.5 a year sack guy. How many of them turn into huge sack producers in the NFL?

#2: If they're able to duke you/run out of your grip/throw it away so you can't close the deal, that will be significantly worse in the NFL. That's a big gap to close for a prospect. You fervently hope you can get him to completely fix his game to meet that athletic potential, but it's very much hopium. Maybe he can, but the odds are stacked against him.

#3: With tons of great prospects looking to be available, it would be prime Keim to roll the dice on the unproductive athlete. Prime. Keim.
