Depends on your definition of "huge sack producers". By the same token though, how many guys have been great in college and done nothing in the league?

But from current players, Oweh, Travon Walker and Danielle Hunter are all 10+ sack guys. Jonathon Cooper, the Denver guy they just extended over Browning had 10.5 sacks this year and never had more than 3.5 in college. Same happens on the interior. Kobie Turner that the Rams drafted had a single 2 sack season in college and has 17 sacks in 2 years in the NFL.

On point 2, I don't think it will be worse in the NFL. One thing I noticed when watching his misses is that he's often the only guy in the backfield, which meant QB's on deep college drops had a tonne of open field to move about in. I think the NFL favors him with tighter pockets and more help.

But all this is by the by really as Stewart, for the want of an inch or two and a bit of luck, could easily have racked up 5 sacks a year. GM's will see that on tape and not be concerned with his numbers.

I'm not saying your wrong to be concerned, you can find something to be concerned about for most draft picks, but I don't think it's set in stone that he's not an NFL talent, and I think teams will be very high on him.
No worries. Sounds like we're just on differing sides of the aisle on whether we should take him at 16, which is fine. I might be higher on the guy if this were a bad or even average edge class, or if the DT class weren't so robust. I favor signing a vet edge and drafting DT early (Nolen is my guy).

Now, if we can get Steward in the 2nd, as one board draft simulator has, then heck yeah, that would be a great time to roll the dice. Just not at #16 for me (and I'm not favoring trade backs either).

Oh, I know you were. It wasn’t a diss.

That reply was more so that I’m pretty sure we’re both intrigued at drafting Jihaad & seeing how special he might be.
Good. Glad we were on the same page.

Only issue for Campbell to overcome is the size. 235 is pretty light for an EDGE.

I don't believe the FA class has great options for this.

Travon Walker is largely considered a disappointment. Especially with the play of Hutchinson. But Baalke is pretty much an idiot and it likely played a role in his getting fired. The other 3 weren't top 20 picks in the 1st round and Oweh had more sacks his 2nd year than that Stewart had his entire college career.

The Stewart situation reminds me a bit of Tyree Wilson.

Jihaad Campbell gives me some Micah Parsons vibes.

I really like the guy from Boston College Donovan Ezeiruaku and saw him as a good round two selection but not sure he gets out of the first at this point.

On the Athletica Football Podcast they said in passing that this class is pretty bad overall. They said a scout mentioned that Abdul Carter might not have gone before Laiatu Latu in last year's class.

.
This year’s version of Carter would’ve been taken before last year’s version of Latu/Verse but I do think he’s getting overhyped a bit. No way I’m taking him over Cam Ward if I’m Tennessee and I don’t love Ward.

I bet Abdul would be the 2nd EDGE off the board after Will Anderson dating back to 2023.

Better instant impact than using our 1st rounder on one, is my thinking. Couple that with the fact that you can get a good edge prospect in RD 2 and a good DT prospect in RD 1, this is the way I would go.
Depends how it unfolds. If 3 or 4 DTs go before us then OLB is definitely the way to go...the opposite is also true

The draft class as a whole is deficient in some key areas. The Carter / Latu thing is stupid.

But who is that vet EDGE? Joseph Assai? Matt Judon? Patrick Jones II?

Agree...we passed on Anderson for picks...
If Carter somehow drops to 16, we win...
Actually saw a top 50 yesterday that had Carter ranked like 19 and the third ranked edge. Rediculous post combine build up.

I would look at a later round pick, 4th maybe, to make a run at Harold Landry.

But, for some reason, I think Monti is going to try and make a splash and overpay for Sweat.
