OK, First off Q is gonna walk IMO the cards are not going to put over 25 mil in their #1 and 2 WR. Q is going to want at least 2 or 3 more a year than Fitz.
The Cards are not the Colts or Pats, they have MVP QB's Leinart hasnt even made a Pro Bowl yet. They also have 5 times the OL that we have.
None of this money is going to extend players IMO, they are focusing on filling the roster now. We have to hit HRs on all of our draft picks bc all of them will be making the final roster.
Q is under contract for 3 more years so he isn't going anywhere unless traded. Also there is no way he will ask for 2 or 3 mil more a year than Fitz. 2 or 3 less than Fitz I can see. The only way he sees anywhere close to this deal is incentive laden contract based on games played, receptions, PB appearances and playoffs, etc.
The hyperbole and rhetoric on this thread is unreal. We aren't a crappy running team because of Fitz and Q, quite the opposite actually, they are both considered outstanding downfield blockers. Our biggest problems with running the ball is we have Wells playing LG when he is better suited to be backup LT, and Gandy playing LT when he'd be better at LG, and a aging RB that can't hit the holes fast enough.
For those of you bashing Graves for the Fitz contract, your simply wrong, its a good contract for us the 1st 3 years (not 11 mil per) and just like his last contract he won't see the 4th year. Dansby won't walk after this year, we can restructure him for 2 mil less (cap hit wise) and he'll be happy. You want to hammer on Graves, do it for things he deserves: not having any scouts that are good at assessing OL talent in the draft, moving at a snail like pace on bringing in FA or working on extensions. Bashing him for this contract, and future contracts of Q, Wilson, Dansby and Dockett is premature and quite frankly wrong.
We now have close to 10 mil in cap space. If we cut Shipp we are close to 12, restructure Warner and Gandy 16 mil., more than enough to bring in a couple of good front line FA, and a couple of depth guys. I just wish Graves would work a little faster, he's already missed out on two of the top OG on the FA market. Bring in Law, and Douglas and scour the films to see if any of the remaining OT or OG are starting upgrades, or good depth.
