Derek Anderson for sure. After hearing Whis's comments at the Combine, I'm not so sure about Porter. If Whis cuts him after saying that stuff, I'm not sure how members of the roster can trust anything he says anymore.

Lets change that to WILL BE CUT

Porter could stay on IF he takes a huge pay cut. Cards will offer him the chance.

Porter is "sunk money" as far as I'm concerned. and it's not like the Cards will apply the money saved from his contract to actually sign someone worth two shakes anyway.

However, the only reason I could see keeping him on the roster at this point would be if he was not only willing, but able to help the LB corp pick up on the scheme Horton will probably be bringing with him from Pittsburgh.

Short of that...yeah, cut him.

Who wants to wager that Derek publicly throws the fans under the bus after he his kicked to the curb, much like he did in cleveland?

At some point DA is gonna have to look in the mirror and realize he just flat out sucks (at least at the NFL level)

The one name on the OP list that is a little surprising - Flozell Adams. He is getting a little long in the tooth, but Adams did a good job for Pittsburgh this past season.

Porter has probably got value left as a rotational rusher (which is probably what he was set up to be before Brown flamed out).
He may be overpriced, but there's not strong replacement out there worth cutting him for.

With Horton coming in I can see Porter being down with taking a paycut. He can excel in Horton's domain better than anywhere else while he is slowing down some. Might even (and I might just be hoping) rejuvenate his career.

All that matters to pro players is the money they make. If Porter thinks that he can get paid more somewhere else, he's going to ask for his release. These guys are PROFESSIONALS, which means that they're mercenaries. He doesn't care who's coaching him. He really doesn't even care about his stats so much as to how they relate to how much he'll get paid next year.

Maybe you ask him to play for the veteran minimum and get half the difference back if he gets 6 sacks and the other half back if he plays 14 games. That'd be more than he'd get on the open market after this season.

This story where Porter got over-used is pretty weak. He had 1 sack before the bye week, and then 4 sacks over three games against three of the worst offensive lines in the NFL (Minneosta, Seattle, and Tampa). Then he had nothing the rest of the year.

“I can honestly say it is hard to say anyone had a good year when we had the type of record last year,” Whisenhunt said. “Joey was in a situation that was tough for him, he was playing a tremendous amount of snaps and for a player his age that was tough and that was not our intent. Our intent was to rotate players in there and give him a break. The latter part of the season, he wore down.

“I give Joey a tremendous amount of credit because he fought every day to get through practice, to work hard and be a good example. But I think he’d tell you he wasn’t as productive, especially late in the season, as he had been in the past. But we could say that about a lot of guys. I expect to see Joey come in and compete and try to get back to the player he had been for us and we’ll see how that progresses.”
