Shipp Sails off into the Sunset; A class act whose actions on the field couldn't measure up to his all-around-good-guy-itude.

Pretty good run for an undrafted player. I wonder if they're letting him go a little early to help him catch with another club. JJ must be breathing a little easier.

He might have been cut to use his 1.75m towards Boldin???

High character player who fought back through a very tough ankle injury. Ran hard and scraped for every inch. First class person. In my book, a winner.

It's good, though, the Cardinals are giving him time to catch on with another team. The Texans have always been interested in him, perhaps they will give him a chance.

I was thinking that too. Good guy just couldn't break out after the injury. Maybe he'll make his way to Chicago ala Thomas Jones

Agreed. He is (well was now) one of my favorite players on the team, and he is from Patterson, NJ. I have met his HS football coach many a time.

Shipp has always been a warrior for us, and always played hard. The one year he was going to have a chance and playing more he had that horrific injury and never recovered. And I do agree that he needed to go though. It is a good move by our club.

I wish him well, and hope he finds another team to hook up with.

Wow. Sad loss. Always hate seeing a guy like that leave a team but his price tag was just too high. I wonder if they offered to restructure his deal to try and keep him?

The coaches like Steve Baylark...the younger UMass grad who is very Marcel Shipp-esque...and Baylark is eligible for another year on the practice squad.

I highly doubt that

Why do you doubt that. Shipp was making a lot of money for essentially a special teams player. By cutting Shipp the team saves 1.75 million towards the cap. Sometimes these decisions come down to $$$. I'm sure they cut him early so he would have a chance to get on with another team. I hope he does.

Interesting timing. Why right now? Signing looming?

Exactly! Why cut him now? It wasn't like the Cards were in Cap trouble and needing to re-sign players. Could they be looking to sign help on the O-Line?

Shipp was a great guy and I hope he gets picked up by another team.

Thought it would happen months ago... and now imagine that the coaches wanted a better sense of what Hightower could be before pulling the plug.

Never thought for a moment that JJ was the guy on the bubble. He has five things going for him, that Shipp doesn't: Speed; better catcher of the ball out of the backfield; can run back kicks; age - and is cheaper.
