Had to happen, but it still bums me out... Shipp was a model for all other pro athletes...
He had two very good years in '02 & '03, and then came the ugly, tragic injury in camp in '04... Players still talk about the sound of that injury and of hearing Shipp screaming... What a shame... damm turf!
I doubt it. They have Ahman Green, Chris Brown (Former Titan) and rookie Steve Slayton in camp. And they signed Mike Bell from Denver a couple days ago. I'm not sure why they'd want a used up RB to come in with his 3.2 YPC career average.
EDIT: Oop--unless they want someone to come in and allow blocked punts.
Pretty good run for an undrafted player. I wonder if they're letting him go a little early to help him catch with another club. JJ must be breathing a little easier.
Didn't Q "cut off" negotiations ?The front office is trying to redo Q's contract and an extra 1.75 million is a step in the right direction.
Beginning of a new ERA:

Well you should be happy. He is off our team

High character player who fought back through a very tough ankle injury. Ran hard and scraped for every inch. First class person. In my book, a winner.
It's good, though, the Cardinals are giving him time to catch on with another team. The Texans have always been interested in him, perhaps they will give him a chance.
The team is better without him. I think he'd be an interesting fit with a team like Buffalo, or the New Jersey Jets, maybe Carolina, where they're working in some younger/less experienced backs.
You'll never be able to fault Marcel Shipp for not trying as hard as he could every down. He justifiably made a lot of fans. But he just wasn't very good. If you put Marcel Shipp's heart in the body of a guy like Cedric Benson or Ricky Williams, there's no question that that player would have had a ceiling without limit.
I was in the stands in the Skydome that day.
I could hear that snap and the screams from 100 ft away.
That he came back from having his foot turned around backwards is a testament to his resiliency.
I appreciate him as a person enough to hope he gets on with another team.
Hopefully in the other conference.
Wow. Sad loss. Always hate seeing a guy like that leave a team but his price tag was just too high. I wonder if they offered to restructure his deal to try and keep him?
Nonsense. You'd just have a guy who took a few tokes and then ran as hard as he could at a 45 degree angle carrying a Plasma TV until he fell down.
Or they really like what they see from Hightower...Cards are now very thin at RB. Perhaps they will pick someone up.
