HMM
Go to Vernon Arizona, or actually the Y that goes to Concho Flats- and there lil store has a sign that welcomes anyone with a gun- That is where I grew up. Most people carry a gun there today, Can't remember the last time someone was shot- or robbed for that matter.
Had a friend that shot himself in the chest over a girl, lived went to prison, came out a priest. Seems a pretty good member of society now- alls well that ends well.
Crime remains very very low- occasional tweeker or alcoholic. Try some Vernon style detox- lock em in a horse trailer and give them an occaisional 1$ hamburger and some water for 3 days!
We went to Blue Ridge High School with gun racks full of guns in our locked trucks in 1980? I don't how long it continued? They may still ? Kids still get out for hunting season.
Now they have cops at the schools with cool corvettes seized from the public. ( Government seizures of private property was illegal in the good ole days) ( urine test were unconstitutional also)
Never a problem- everybody taught to never show off guns in public, treat others with respect, I had a nephew that pulled an unloaded 30-30 to use it as club. Lil stupid- I told him he should kick his own AZ -for that stunt.
There has been a couple gunfights, the West Brothers shoot out at Fools Hollow Lake went pretty bad, what late 70's- Weve had a couple stale mates where everybody was pointing guns at each other- ended in a cold war style stand off.
In the Valley whole different animals, guy lifted me off the ground with a double barrel 12 gauge in my ribs pinning me to a car. while his buddy screamed he was in Vietnam-and punched me as hard as he could in my head. I told him my grandmother hits harder than that-- didn't work out well for thesmels after that, but I lived.
I've met a couple truck shooters- out in parking lots shooting somebody's truck. I'm like your one hell of a truck shooter! They say I'll shoot you too!
I told them you aint a people shooter your a truck shooter - just look at you!
I've had a couple close calls in the Army , Leesville Lousianna - Some Cajuns don't like soldiers - black- white- indifferent. One unloaded 9 rounds hitting the wall just behind me as ran as fast as I could bobbing and weaving, Got behind a dumpster.
Germany seen a cop shoot a guy in the back of the knee from about 50 yards. American stole or mistreated a prostitute in the red light district. DO NOT MESS with Polizi- There are no rights to protect criminals in Germany.
I have most always walked or ran away when possible - If you got a lot of city in you, I feel for you, but don't corner me or mine- I don't like gangsters picking at weaker people for their own entertainment. Or men beating women, but have tolerated it in Cities.
Last story, Guy pulled up beside me at a light in mesa , and was shouting at me, I rolled down my passenger window and He was yelling how he was going to kick my AZ, I rolled the window back up, He got out of his truck with his lil buddy- Lil buddy screaming you don't know how bad AZ this guy here is he's meaner than Hell.
He came to my window and I went to open the door and he grabbed it and tried to slam my legs in it. I rolled down the window and he reached into the window and grabbed me- I grabbed his arm pulled it in tight against the door- leaned back against the driver and windmilled both feet into his face several times- (with tree climbing boots)
I let go he staggered back with his teeth sticking through his lips and uttered though the blood -you kicked me in the face! I told him calmly I was not the one that stuck my arm -through- your window!
In case he is on here I just want to express sorrow and sadness- but I was not wrong.
same alley, never carried my guns on me, plenty been pointed at me though. Thankfully, noone ever shot but I also backed off whenever the gun came out.
the bottom line is if you are truly threatened and have to shoot you should be able to. There were witnesses to what happened.
