Should Ayton be Traded?

Should the Suns trade Ayton?

  • Yes, trade him ASAP

  • Maybe, depends on who is hired as coach

  • No, let's see what he can do without Monty

This would be an incredibly stupid move - we need all of the guys making more than the min to contribute, and having Nurkic sit out half the season would be a disaster.

It's depressing that Gambo keeps pushing this crap proposal - it seems the Suns are hell bent on getting rid of DA even if we're taking pennies on the dollar.

Gambadoro is getting this information from somewhere.

What bothers me, is this Pollyanna picture being painted of Nurkic.

What Pollyana picture? He's slow as molasses, averages playing 46 games, and isn't getting any younger.

He's a mid player who does nothing to move us closer to a championship - only further away. It's not like we can spend the cap savings between he and Ayton.

Why would the Suns do this deal?

I'm talking about the positive image of Nurkic that was presented by Gambo.

In the YouTube video Dave Burns tried to point out all the games Nurkic has missed over the last four seasons.

I wouldn't do this trade unless the Suns got significant assets in return beyond Nurkic.

Agreed that is extremely troubling - strongly suggests we are trading for him and the Sun's have told Gambo to push the deal isn't that bad.

I don't remember where or from who but someone recently wrote Ayton has been in the Valley all summer long working on his game

I didn't know the Bahamas were considered part of the valley

I didn't know the Olympic qualifiers were in Phx

I didn't know that porn star lived here either

Me thinks they were propping him up - to get rid of him

Ayton is just a buzzkill and I think the Suns want to move on from his lackadaisical energy. Maybe Vogel thinks they can punt on the center position and throw out a combination of KD, Nurk, Eubanks, Metu, Bol and make it work. Jokic embarrass both Ayton and Landale last year.

Jokic is an MVP and one of the top 3 players in the league, and Ayton did pretty good against him the previous series.

Jettisoning guys who have trouble with Jokic is an interesting strategy.

But he hid behind the backboard forcing KD to bang with the Joker - and KD didn't get embarrassed

It isn't about Ayton's talent - he is most serviceable when he isn't having a Britney Spears day - it's about Ayton consistently checking out when his teammates need him most - in front of the whole world - which obviously crushed any real trade value

You do realize that Ayton was one of the main reasons we almost won a championship, right?

Again - your options are hoping that he'll reach 80% of his potential and be a useful part of a championship team, or trade him for crap and pray.

I know which boat I'm in.

He only hurts our chances of a championship, it gets worse every year in the playoffs. We don't have the time to sit around hoping he might grow up

How do you think Booker and KD would have answered the poll above? Because I'm guessing they're in the 22%

Dude, the whole board knows that you want to get rid of him. If we could get a meaningful return, I'm sure they would.

The thing you don't seem to get is WE HAVE NO FLEXIBILITY, PERIOD. We can't add salary in any way, we have a depressed asset that won't get what we want, so you've provided no viable alternative other than giving away one of our few remaining assets with any value.

Book/KD/Beal aren't going anywhere, so I'd love to know how you'd improve the team getting rid of Ayton.

If we trade Ayton for anybody that isn't a coward in the playoffs... I'd consider that an improvement, because the playoffs is all that matters and I think Book feels the same way

False premise. Ayton hasn't always been a coward in the playoffs. Your bias is coloring your judgement here.

Gambo lost a ton of credibility with me after posting this.

Nobody that knows much of anything about the NBA thinks Nurkic is a prize get.

It is insane to suggest he might be an upgrade over Ayton.
I feel like he's trying to sell us on it for the Suns organization. It's not working.
