There is every reason to boo Marion to the max.

He doesn't deserve to wear a Suns uniform and it is a shame he has the privilage of being on the team given that he doesn't want to be here.

The man is a little child who complains - although being the highest paid and taking the most shots - and wants a trade.

He refuses to play power forward and when addressed to play power forward he does it while be disgruntled.

He is seldom a 4th quarter performer. Cannot rely on his shot. Needs Nash so he can be an all-star. Had he been in any other NBA club, he would have been a 12pts/6reb guy off the bench.

Marion is the most overrated player in history and doesn't belong on the Suns.

So yes: BOOOOOOOOOOOO MARION!

I cannot wait til the day he is gone. I cannot wait!

Care to remind me what Marions stats were before Nash? Pretty sure he wasn't a 12/6 guy coming off the bench.

Way to throw logic out the window just so you can stir things up. Again.

Sunsman44;1514866 I don't get the chart. Not only does Shawn Marion stink said:
You don't get the chart!? Its a graph, showing Marion's numbers from his 2nd season in the league (since rookie stats are sorta irrelevant) to last year. It shows his minutes per game, steals per game, blocks per game, points per game, rebounds per game and games played, notice how the lines are nearly a straight horizontal line? That shows CONSISTENCY. Furthermore ,those are very good (All Star even) numbers. If he was consistently a 10 point/5 rebound a game type of guy, that would be one thing, but his numbers are always very good.

Care to remind me how many titles Marion has helped win for Phoenix?

Hmm. 2? 5? 6?

Oh, zero. At least that's consistent.

So, we should get rid of Stoudemire & Nash, too, because they haven't helped us win any titles, either?

Remember...there's no "I" in team...

That's not a fair assessment. Nash/Amare have been here less.

The argument was about how Marion was always successful as a Sun even before Nash came and thus why I said he didn't help win a title in the pre-Nash era. (nor the Nash era for that matter).

So, being successful as a Sun = winning a title? Dan Majerle was not successful as a Sun? Barkley? KJ? Kidd? NO ONE ON ANY ROSTER AT ANY TIME?

While I'm pissed at Marion, I will never boo a player... I think it is ridiculous to do such a thing.

It’s completely absurd to boo Marion. Despite his antics just prior to the start of the season he has done exactly what he said he’d do and comported himself with nothing more than the utmost professionalism and grace since. Further so far he has really “brought it” in the preseason and I expect nothing less in the regular season. Even if he does elect to opt and leave he has always given his utmost for this team and this city and he deserves the respect for what he’s done.

Thats the entire criteria for you liking a player? Well then F*** off Sir Charles, you stink Connie Hawkins, to heck with you Alvin Adams, you stink KJ, Tom Chambers what a bum!

Championships are important, but learn to enjoy the journey. Nash and Amare haven't won any titles either, so I hope you hate them just as much as Nash.

I'm going to ask this once, are you a gimmick account? Are you intentionally posting crap because you like to watch everyone lose their mind yelling at you? If not, you are mind numbingly stupid, and very brash and arrogant about your stupidity, not a great combo.

If he plays like crap. I would boo him.

Hopefully he plays the entire season this year and not just the first 82 games.

interesting point. i think when you say someone is under rated you draw attention to them. then when they get looked at under the microscope, people find and exploit their flaws and then call them over rated. kind of a catch 22.

for the argument of marion not helping us win a title:
dirk must be a lousy player because he has never lead his team to a championship? and how about tracy mcgrady/yao? surely they are poor players. to name a few more; dwight howard, ray allen, paul pierce, kevin garnett, pau gasol, lebron james, carmelo anthony, allen iverson, just to name a few. sunsman, please follow your own pole and take a long walk off a short bridge.

I don't get the chart. Not only does Shawn Marion stink, but he stinks big time. I know every single one of you cringed and shouted at the TV screen every single playoff when Marion chugged up an ugly three. We all know u wanted Marion out after the playoffs because he messes things up for the team. He is an undersized "I like to get tossed around by Lamar" power forward who cannot play small forward either since he cannot shoot the ball. I'd trade him for Jerome James and a stack of blueberry pancakes anyday.

:bigyawn: Now you're just trying to get reactions out of people.

I've booed the Suns when they put forth lame effort - as a team, not as any individual.
Sunsman44 is a role play - or can "he" be so stupid?
It's a case where it's hard to tell parody from reality.

all you folks that don't like Marion can have a bit more ammo:

Kevin Garnett said:
"Phoenix was one team I was looking at. I didn’t want to go and play with some team that had a bunch of young guys on it. I wanted to play with some vets, someone to help carry the load or whatever. I looked at Phoenix; Phoenix was one of the teams that I had in mind."
...
"[but] The Phoenix situation, I don’t think they knew what they wanted to do ... I wanted to play with Stoudemire, but in trying to keep within the league rules, trying to get insight, when they was talking about moving Stoudemire, which was who I wanted to play with…it’s not like I’m against playing with Shawn Marion, but I wanted to play with the big fella. When it got to be a little different from that, I just fell back a little bit, started to really ponder some more and thought about the Jersey thing..."

after hearing what marion was saying and now this, its kind of dead obvious to me what happened. marion was gone, minnesota was prepared to accept the package we got for shawn, KG was ready for it to happen. marion killed it. he pulled a matt williams (back when he said no to the larry walker deal). he has the right no doubt.

but as a suns fan, you're just shaking your head that you could have traded a top 25 player for a top 5 player...

i read that a completely different way that you. i read what KG said as "the suns were not going to get me by trading Marion and had to resort to trading Amare instead. i nixed that idea because i wanted to play with Amare. Marion is good and all, but i REALLY wanted to play with Amare. So when Amare was talked about in the deal, i backed off."

this quote had nothing to do with Marion nixing any sort of deal.....but rather that Marion wasnt going to get it done for the other parties.

The amare trade rumor was from an Atlanta source. While kerr stated "no one is untouchable" (which is true) the suns also bashed the amare to ATL rumor quite strongly. Amare was even quoted as saying, in so many words, yeah rumors fly, but the front office brought me in and assured me they werent going to trade me. I dont know if KG had an inside source within the suns, but i doubt the amare trade was even discussed to any extent, and believe KG was misinformed.

Which is all a moot point because Shawn Marion is a hypocrite who wants to be the main attraction with a superstar bank account but not lead a team or improve his game.

I chose the option of "Boo", but let me clarify. If I am lucky enough to attend any games this year, I will not 'cheer' and root for Marion as I have in the past. However, I would never Boo my own team's players. I certainly won't Boo Marion this year. The guys struggles with the English language and simple math - he has enough problems without me booing him. I do believe in forgiveness; if Marion plays hard and retracts what he said earlier and acknowledges his current salary is 'out-of-whack', not to mention 3years $60 million demand, I will again cheer for him. I do want him to succeed on this team. I want the Suns to succeed.

There is one exception to the 'boo your own team' rule - I would have booed Jason Kidd after he was arrested for hitting his wife. That crap makes me sick. Same goes for rape, or any child molestation charges...
