Pure speculation at this point. Cards have really been silent on any feedback of HC interviews.

The coordinators are going to be as much or more important than the HC. They are the ones doing the bulk of the coaching and they are the ones doing the majority of the scheming and game planning. I think a series of good hires here will really boost the team in a good direction. Getting Shurmur, for example as a head coach is okay, but I like it a lot more if guys like Chuck Pagano and McCoy or Cable come along. All of those guys are former head coaches, and would be a lot more prepared for the job than yet another lazy promote some nobody from within circle jerk.

Seems like a down year for head coaches with a lot of openings. What do you do as the GM in that situation? No candidates to blow your socks off like BA did, just accept you’ll have to try and get lucky but more realistically be on the hunt again in 2-3 years?

I'm interested as well. I follow the man's reports on their website, but have never paid attention, nor have heard anything about his wife.

I’m curious as well. What did Fouhy’s wife say?

??

I do not remember Arians "blowing the socks off" the two teams that passed on him ?

Just wondering why this is a "down year" ?

Maybe this is why Keim is keeping this close to his vest and nothing is imminent because Shurmur is still employed as of this weekend.

Are you overly enamoured by any of the candidates? I’m not. All seem very meh. There’s no clear front runner like there’s been in past years.

No, but I wasn’t blown away by Arians either.
even at the time it was hard to ignore BAs resume. and he was just coming off coach of the year.. lots of people at the time wanted horton tho (lol) and were pissed when BA said he was gonna bring in bowles.

Agreed. Arians was my last choice (Andy Reid was my first one), so don't listen to me. I couldn't believe that a guy who had been in the league for so long without getting a HC gig couldn't possibly be any good. :)

That's with the Browns...with Colt Mccoy and Brandon Weeden as his Qb's...just sayin.

I melted in anger when BA fired Horton and bought in Bowles. The rest is history. BA made me eat many crows.

me neither. I remember a whole lot of "wait and see"...

must say...I was one who was adamantly against Horton...still happy with that position.
where is he at now?

I am also against Bettcher...maybe I am just averse to hiring from within?? Perhaps the grass is always greener....

Cardinals brass drafted Skelton, Lindley, Logan Thomas with input from Keim. Browns drafted Weeden with input from Shurmur

So pairing Keim and Shurmur to draft a first round QBOTF is the way to go? What facts can be used to derive this conclusion?

Sorry, I took the original post wrong.

If you are saying that the "hype" around the candidates is not what it seems to be, then yes, I agree.

The last time around, I was not enamored by the thought of having Mike McCoy as the head coach, and keeping Ray Horton, but I liked it the idea of it.

Plus I was a little let down about hiring Arians, and then firing Horton, and bringing in Todd Bowles.

Right now, I like the idea of Pat Shurmur coming into AZ as the Head Coach, that is about it.

I guess the Arians hiring taught me that you do not know until the guy gets here and starts to go to work. At least that is my opinion about it.

You could say Steve Wilks, and Matt Patricia are getting some hype out there. John Gruden was a bit of a story for a month or so.
