I should add, you saw dudes just tee'ing off on Kurt in 2010 against the Saints. Illegal or not, they were just madhouse blitz crushing him. That's what it would be like for Manning. It totally didn't matter if Kurt could make pre-snap reads or anything. Manning would be no different. Especially behind this oline. Manning would be blown up behind this oline. Just destroyed.

I won't even break it down because just looking at it as a whole I have to wonder how you can even ask whether the line in 08 was better than today. There's totally no comparison.
Again, justify your claim? The OL of '08 and '09 was MARGINALLY better but not BY MILES.

Both tackles were constant rotating doors. Wells struggled quite a bit and was under constant fan criticism.

But not by miles.

Again, the point is it is not way off what we had we were successful with a HOF QB.

I'm not trying to give you a hard time, man. A HOF QB like Warner can make up for so many deficiencies. I've posted that numerous times. I believe I even posted that he made up for oline deficiencies. The only point I'm making is he can't make up for this. He couldn't make up for these deficiencies. No way. There's too much. Our oline is too inept. I don't think anyone could deal with it under any circumstance. This oline is so much worse than what Kurt had to deal with, on so many levels. We're not even getting into depth, we're just talking starters, but depth is an issue also. Our oline is just so much worse. It's actually deteriorated since 08 tremendously.

During Manning's career he has been immeasurably more durable than Kolb has. In 14 years in the league he has had an injury that made him miss games once, while Kolb gets injured on a regular basis.

If the glass man Kolb can survive the preseason then Manning should not have had a problem.

And the 08 being better than today's line is seriously debatable. Kurt was regularly creamed on quick releases and they couldnt run block anywhere near as good as our line can now.

Well, then, we completely disagree. I don't know how Levi and Gandy were MILES better than what we have today.

I'm not even sure how to address this point except to say really? I mean, really? I don't know what else to say man. I really don't.

That's true, but look at Manning's oline dude. He had some great great olineman. Kolb had crap in Philly and worse crap here. We don't even have one dude like Jeff Saturday. Not one guy.

I would question that. Edge had games, especially in the playoffs, where he was a beast. I'll have to look at averages. He never had a game like Well's last year, but quality and YPC matter more.

I'm frankly surprised anyone is even comparing these olines. To be honest.

Each player was better--maybe not by "miles," but I think those positions were better than a "marginal" upgrade, too.

Regardless, when you are worse at almost every position along the line it adds up. You can't even be marginally worse at each position and expect the line as a whole to only be "marginally" worse. It's a cumulative effect.

But hey, maybe they get better. Right now they suck balls.

Bottom line: I don't think anyone should be "damning" Manning for his decision not to play behind that line. He made the right choice for himself, IMO.

The only reason someone would want to feign like the oline from 08 is comparable to today's oline is to compare QB's and rip on our current ones.

But those things aren't mutually exclusive. Doesn't have to be one or the other. Our QB and our oline suck ass. Having a good oline wouldn't make one of these chumps at QB great. They've had chances and opportunities.

Both our QB and Oline suck bad. Balls. Superbad. Supersuck. I can't even think of enough sucky adjectives.

In 2008 Edge was our leading rusher with 513 yards and a mere 3.9 yards per carry, as a team we averaged 3.5 yards per carry. The blocking was awful in 2008, our rushing game may have been the worst in the league. Hightower was our 2nd leading rusher and picked up a horrific 2.8 yards per carry.

Last year Beanie was our leading rusher with over 1000 yards and 4.3 ypc, we averaged 4.2 as a team.

I honestly think the blocking, last year (probably not this year with Levi out) was considerably better than anything Warner played behind.

Of course he made a decision what he felt was right for him... that still doesn't soften the blow for us and it sucks for us that he did not pick us. We could have been so much better with him at QB. At least one position of problem would have been addressed. That was my whole point.
