ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Sidney Rice will not re-sign with the Vikings before testing free agency.

The Vikings made an initial offer to Rice, but agent Drew Rosenhaus seems set on seeing what the market will bear for the 24-year-old playmaker. Knee and hip injuries have wrecked two of Rice's past two seasons, but talent alone will push him to the top of a free agent field that features Santonio Holmes, Santana Moss, Braylon Edwards, Malcom Floyd and Randy Moss.

he can hardly demand that sort of money. he has literally had one season with over 500 yards receiving.

I'd love to bring Rice in and would gladly let Breaston walk if we can. I think they'll demand and get comparable money, but Rice is more of a deep threat. Both of them have injury concerns and limited success, and this is why I don't think it will break the bank to sign them. It would break the bank too much to sign them both, so I'd take Rice. Still, were I in the FO, I wouldn't break my back making this THE big FA signing.

I don't know about that. Rice has the ability to be a Top 5 WR in the NFL; Breaston has the ability to be a Top 20 WR in the NFL. Breaston will probably get $15 million guaranteed; I wouldn't be surprised to see Rice get close to $20 million guaranteed, even with the injury.

Sid Rice had 1300+ yards and 8 TDs in 2009. Breaston doesn't have 8 TDs in his entire career.
