If you think my not proclaiming a rookie big man a complete bust after only a single season as huge optimism, what does that say about you?

Dude, you've NEVER liked any player the Suns have gotten in the past 4 years. And good job responding to a post made 3 months ago.

Predicting rookies to be a bust, especially big men, is about a 75% guarantee.

I agree....I haven't been this excited about a Suns' rookie since Stoudemire.

I read somewhere Clark is prone to turnovers. This worries me. I just hope the Suns didn't draft a tweener that can not play either position, SF or PF. I still get nightmares about Kenny Battle when the Suns settled for mediocrity and didn't draft Divac. I am not saying Clark can't excel but I am anxious for him to prove himself on the NBA level.

btw, you're way off with this comment too. you can search back through the threads, but . . .

1. I liked the original grant hill signing.
2. I liked the marion for shaq deal.
3. I like the draft selection of earl clark.

pretty sure all three of those signings/selections were made in the past 4 years. but nice exaggeration. you really do only concentrate on my negativity.

Earl Clark was a solid pick at 14. The guy fits well in this system.

Lopez had 24 points and 16 boards in the Summer League opener. Although it's summer league, that's a good sign.

How did Lopez score 24? I wonder how scrubby his opponents are.

Yeah that seems to be going around....I asked for kool-aid,and all i got was "you're a hater."
Sorry,i'm not happy with the direction of the team...deal with it.

Anyway,concerning Lopez....

For those of you who remember, many years ago 6'10" Andrew Lang, who was given a good chance to contribute as the Suns center, would always bring a rebound down to his knees, putting him on equal footing with Power Forwards to Point Guards.

He was constantly getting stripped after a rebound.

He never changed that habit. And I never understood why. Otherwise, I liked his game as a true Center on a team that traditionally went small.
I've been calling Lopez out on this since day one. Hence: The Midget Clown. Apparently he had a monster game in the summer league yesterday so thats promising. He does need to correct this flaw though. Someone mentioned building strength in his legs and lower body in general so he can maintain leverage when he's boxing out, defending in the post etc...this makes sense. I wonder if the coaches have touched on it.

Andrew Lang could have been the type center the Suns have always coveted. I always thought he would eventually put his game together and become more than an average center. It just didn't happen.

The Suns did well to sell high on Lang. He averaged 6.7 rebounds and 2.5 blocks in the year before he was packaged to the Sixers for Barkley, and he never attained those numbers again.

They sold high on Tim Perry as well. He had a pretty nice season in '91-'92 only to dissappear after the trade.

Gambo and Ash just said that Lopez is still growing. He is now 7-1 3/4 in sneaks and has added 10 lbs. He has also gained some mobility and agility.

Care to explain why you disagree? Or are you laughing at the 14 other teams who ignorantly passed on him in last years draft.

No, I am laughing at the fact that you think any of those 14 teams care. Not to mention that even saying Lopez and KG in the same sentence is an insult to KG.

You do know I am being 100% sarcastic right?

Initially I was responding to Brianellsworth and laughing at the statement. You then responded to that post with a question and I must have missed the sarcasm. Sorry. :D

Lopez is the next Ostertag, everyone's going to dunk on him.

I just rewatched the game. The Mavs SL centers are awful. Nathan Jawai et al.

The next game he only grabbed three rebounds, but he was guarding a center on the perimeter.

Lopez looks like he can become a good backup center at the least, but tall, athletic guys like Dwight Howard, even Anthony Randolph will just eat him alive. He does look like a real NBA player though, as opposed to most of these summer league centers.

He seems pretty smart and aware but he's limited by his speed, hops, and hands.

Ostertag actually played defense and was even average at it.

Sadly Lopez should not even be muttered in the same breath as Ostertag. I'm not even sure Lopez is an NBA caliber player. Lopez is the type player that should have been parked in Europe for several years. Thinking about it further, it is not Lopez' fault he does not have game. Most everyone knew this prior to the draft except the Suns decision makers.
