I am going with Sheldon as well.
9 TD's on only 40 catches, and a crazy 23.4 yards per catch. That is a perfect compliment of long ball speed to go with our top 3 WR's in 4 Wide sets.
McCoy is still to much of a project, he has the toold he just needs to learn how to use them still.
How is Sheldon any less of a project than McCoy???
McCoy's numbers 10 TD's on only 36 catches, 19.5 yards per catch (19.1
career ypc). McCoy like Sheldon is also speedster. He also gained 222 yards on twelve kickoff returns (18.5 avg) and carried 16 times for 168 yards (10.5 avg), including three scores. He also recorded 22 tackles (12 solos) on special teams.
Don't hold the fact the you've never heard of his college, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, against McCoy. In fact is should be a plus for him.
IUP has been ranked in the Top 20 in the Division II poll at least one week each season since 1984. Since 1987 they have been in the NCAA Division II Playoffs 13 times, losing in the Division Championship Games in 1990 and 1993. The 2002 and 2003 teams ranked 6th in the nation in Division II at the end of the regular season play.
2004 was a down year for IUP, they finished the season with a 7-3 record. McCoy was named the team's MVP.
RE: Sheldon
"When it came down to the seventh round, I thought my best opportunity was Arizona. Actually, I had a deal before the end of the draft,” Sheldon added. “My best chance of getting on the team is as a punt returner. Their special teams coach (Kevin O’Dea) really has pushed for me.”
Sheldon and 18 other rookies will participate in a mini-camp this weekend at the Cardinal Training Facility in Tempe. “Yeah, I’m a little upset,” the four-time Huskie letterman (Sheldon) admitted. “Breaking my collarbone the second time really hurt me.”The 5-foot-10, 180-pounder could also contend for a wide receiver job, but wants to concentrate on punt returns.
So Sheldon is small and injury prone... Also by Sheldon's own reckoning his best shot is as a kick return specialist. The question is who will be the # 4 WR. Let's face it after Fitz, Q, and BJ, they are all
projects...
The
"homer" in me is pulling for McCoy!
