Dre Moore was released by the Bucs. I'd put him on the PS before Dykes or Banks.

Actuallya great year for rookies this year. Not that many were cut in fact half as many were cut compared to last years cuts. It is looking like the 2008 draft really was very deep.

Anyways, a few of the rookies that were cut intrigue me. I would be willing to drop a guy like Celestin to make room on the roster for one of these guys potential.

DT - Dre Moore (4th rounder)
CB - Trea Williams (5th rounder)
DT - Nich Hayden (6th rounder)
SS - Josh Barrett (6th Rounder)
QB - Andre Woodson (6th rounder)
RB - Marus Thomas (5th rounder)
RB - Allen Patrick (7th rounder)

A veteran guy that caught my eye is CB Hank Poteat.

I want the Cards to pick up DE Johnny Dingle, cut by the Chiefs, and line him up to the left of Bertrand Berry. *tee hee*

We're at a point in the process where you can't add anybody unless you cut someone.

Who would be cut if we brought in Willie Anderson? (Would we give up on future talents like Keith or Vallejo in order to sign a guy who'd probably give us one more good year? And remember, we're already thin at center). Or would we have to give up one of our two FB's or pare our WR unit down to 5 guys?

What about MacDougle? He's a pass rush specialist, and we already have some of those. Who'd you cut to put him on our roster? Berry? LaBoy? Chike? Antonio Smith?

Assuming they're healthy (and free from off the field problems), I could see Deltha O Neil or Fernando Bryant representing an upgrade over Ralph Brown, but they don't know Pendergast's complicated defensive system as well as Brown. And if they were still as good as they were supposed to be a few years back, they probably wouldn't have been cut.

I'm not saying we shouldn't add any of these guys - just remember that when we add a guy, we have to lose a guy.

We dont need to scout the waiver wire this time to fill out our roster. This year, we finally had too many people good enough to play on this ball club. Instead of hoping cuts from other clubs come here, we are hoping to retain some of our cuts for the PS.....thats progress in a nut shell my friends

Willie Anderson, Jerome MacDougal,Fernando Bryant, Josh Huston, and any punter are some guy the Cards should consider giving looks to.

here's a lsit of everybody

No offense, but isn't this list a case of name recognition?

DB, C and P are the only postions where I could see us pick up any outside players.

Jerome MacDougal

McDougle can make a very good case for being the biggest bust of the 2003 draft. In four seasons, he's played in only 33 games while making a whopping 35 tackles and accumulating 3 sacks.

He was just signed by the Giants, which gives you some insight into how desperate they are for DL help. I'd take any DL on our roster over that knucklehead.

i would give up Vallejo in a second for Willie Anderson. YOu can find an Eliot Vallejo anyhwhere. Willie Anderson can still play at a high level. It's just the Bengals didn't want to pay an older veteran. Can't blame them, but my buddy close to the Bengals says Willie was definitely one of their top 5 OL and was let go purely for financial reasons.

He lost his starting job, which clearly puts outside the top 5.

Well, all i can say is you're wrong. They didn't want to pay him,he refused to re-do his deal, therefore, he's not starting. It wasn't a talent issue. But keep believing what the Bengals put out.

Hmm....

All reports that I've read says that is had lost his starting job and the Bengals didn't want to pay him $6M a year, when he wasn't a starter.

:bang:. He wasn't starting because they weren't keeping him at 6 mill per year. If he would've agreed to a lower salary, he would've been starting. The Bengals saved 8 mill in cap space with their cuts and 9.2 mill in salary. That may have figured into who was cut . If Willie was making 2 mill this year, he would be lining up in the starting OL next week. The only thing that cna be questioned is if there are some untold health issues.

I know this an an annual ritual for us, lusting after everybody else's dregs. But, that's what message boards are for.

Go ahead. You know right now that the chances of us going after another player, other than at center (due to injury) or punter, are infinitesimal. Well, okay, cardsfanmd, throw in kicker as well.

If you think in terms of what our coach might want to gain and not want to sacrifice, as Jeff did (he nailed it, in my opinion), these threads would be more interesting.

Cutting a guy like Celestin or Vallejo wouldn't be much of a sacrifice. Talk about warm bodies.

it's also an annual ritual for people to way overrate PS/reserve talent on the Cards. Some guys had us starting the likes of Shane Boyd and Preston Parsons at QB. How were we ever going to replace the Milford Brown? We should give Earnest Shazor a look.

The good thing is we usually all agree on who stinks and are usually right. Terence Holt, Buster Davis, Tom Knight, and that LB who started 2 years ago for us,i can't remember the name, think it started with a H,and was maybe the worst LB i have seen in the NFL all come to mind.
