This was one of the best parts of the Cards’ season. Dallas was the first to return a scoring kickoff under the new system. They lost a great placekicker, but Ossenfort found what might become even a better one. Ryland was cool under pressure. His range may not yet have peaked. He should be next year’s kicker. The Cards also featured one of the top punters in the league, Gillikin. Ironically he was injured as well. He should recover fully and resume his position next year. Finally there’s the issue of punt returns. I thought Dortch might be replaced by Dallas. Their skillsets are similar. However, the final game indicated the Cards may see an expanded receiving role for Dortch, especially on third down. He fits that scat back profile better than Dallas. Once in the open field he can be especially elusive. I’d say the position is unresolved.

Dallas has a big contract for ST IMO - he stays.

If we could actually use Dortch effectively (like we all said heading into 2024), then we should re-sign him. His ability to catch passes and make first downs/TD's is something we are missing today. He is decent as a PR.

It's not the WR thread but if you have MHJ, a speedy downfield threat, Wilson, and Dortch used correctly - I think you have a great receiving room (with McBride).

Ryland and Gil were great.

100%

Ryland had what...3 game winning FG's this year?
He also contributed to a couple of games we lost with misses -Minnesota for sure.
He has a strong leg but he seems just a tad bit slow on the kick...feels like he is very close to getting each kick blocked from the side.

Ryland picked a bad time for a slump: SEA / MINN / SEA stretch

even the made kicks in those games were moving in a way they hadnt in others

but he then rallied -- over the last three games and the kicks were dead down the middle and still going up when they went through the uprights
