FWIW Zagsblog now says Lance has dropped Maryland and St Johns so it's down to UA and MEmphis. He has not visited either school so it's an interesting final 2 but that's what Zagoria is reporting.

So its Pastner vs. Richardson for the last elite recruit in the 2009 class. Hopefully Book's NY AAU connections make the difference. Unless Stephenson decides Europe is an option. I read that article and Stephenson's coach I believe said it wouldn't surprise him if he committed without taking a single visit.

Now the onus is on Stephenson. If he comes the UA concievably has a Top 10 class in Millers first 4 weeks of being coach. That is beyond amazing.

Is it to early to give him an extension?:)

Hopefully this brings Wise back and then not only is 26 looking good - a potential conference championship is in play depending on how fast the freshman progress.

Welcome aboard Mr. Parrom! Miller getting NYC area players is going to be huge. I can't wait to see what the 2010 class is going to look like.

I knew Miller would be a good hire, but I had no idea that he would be this successful this quickly. And these definitely aren't "fill out the bench" players. Nick would be very smart to come back and lead these kids.

I've heard rumors that Parrom and Stephenson are close but these articles make it seem like the opposite. Parrom indicating that he is "unsure of Lance's situation and that if he wants to come then come but he is not a recruiter" sounds like he can care less if Lance comes which might give proof that Stephenson isn't a model teammate or liked. That's probably why Parrom was whom the coaching staff preferred. I guess we will have to wait and see what Lance does.

Yep, it's becoming pretty obvious that Miller is going to do some very special things in Tucson.

I have no clue what Nic is going to do but he won't get an NBA contract this summer.

I'm guessing there is some type of power struggle within the program on whether to take this kid or not. I personally see both sides of the argument. He for sure brings along some baggage and is a bit of a headcase. But at the same time he doesn't have eligibility issues, has NBA talent, and basically locks up #26 in a row and Arizona eventually surpassing UNC.

Stephenson provides the one thing this team needs the most, a scorer. As long as he stays under control I dont have a problem with him. Im sure he will be "problem child" in some ways, but I wouldnt mind seeing how our staff handles a player like that.

Goodman (an Arizona alum) still says no...

I'm guessing Arizona is doing their extreme due diligence on the eligibility and legal issues on this kid and if everything comes back rosy then they'll take him. However should a bunch of red flags appear (which is 95% likely to happen) then they'll back off.

Anybody know has he NCAA qualified yet, GPA and ACT scores?

You don't hear nearly as much talk about amateur status with Lance as you do with Renardo Sidney so I don't think people are overly concerned his dad took money, I think they just are concerned that lance and his dad are very difficult to deal with. That part of Goodman's story where he mentioned NCAA concerns I don't think that's really valid, to be honest I don't think a lot of teams recruited Lance because they figured he'd go play in Europe. When he started saying he wouldn't some schools got involved, but I still don't think any of them were going to pay someone to get him because they all know there's a downside to Lance, attitude wise.

One thing is for sure, neither Lance nor Wall will be playing professional ball next year. I say this because Vaccaro predicted on air that Wall would be in the NBA and Lance in Europe next year. Wall didn't file before the deadline, and I don't think Lance will get any offers in Europe if he wanted to. And vaccaro's recent track record on predictions is he's almost always wrong.

He did say there was another big announcement coming soon, which I think some people took to mean Lance to Europe, but nothing has happened yet.

AFAIK Lance never really gave Europe strong consideration. He's academically eligible, but with the BR website and some "Under Armour" issues there are some questions as to his full amateur status. Same things KU was looking at before Xavier ended up with us.

Wow Gary Parrish really does a number on lance in this article. http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/story/11735696

At one point he says lance is like a supermodel with herpes!

And DWKB you're right I'd forgotten about the Underarmor angle(I think I even posted about it awhile back) there was some issue about Lance's personal website and that there were some who believed they'd taken money through the site. Parrish says some coaches told them off the record they WERE concerned about his amateur status.

Calipari has now passed on him twice, once at Memphis(he got henry instead) and once at UK(when he doesn't have Henry).

I think it's become pretty obvious at this point that Stephenson or whoever is making the decisions for him really wants him to end up at Arizona. They have the name brand, the elite backcourt running mate, have a former coach in Book Richardson, and is away from home to eliminate some if not all of the distractions. Why else would everyone from Arizona be saying the Cats are marginally interested while everyone with NYC connections is making a huge deal out of this?

I'm going to let Sean Miller decide what's best on this. Arizona would have to do a ton of homework to let this kid into school because once he's in the NCAA will come knocking.

Just to keep the thread going (I'm a long-time stalker of this board), how happy are we that Tim Floyd turned us down?

Any thoughts on the fallout after the proverbial sh*t has hit the fan?

And to keep it in topic, what's the effect on UA's recruiting, if any? Does anyone think it will make the Pac10 look weak and unregulated? Or will this only effect USC?
