Book Richardson is the guy and he was hired before Momo committed to USC. I don't think they're as close as a normal godfather-godson relationship however.

And that's not surprising about KO. Last year he actually challenged Jordan Hill to an fistfight. The guy's psychotic. I hope we get Derrick Williams from that clown too, it would be poetic justice after playing a role in costing Arizona Abdul Gaddy and Mike Moser. Not to mention running off Laval Lucas-Perry, Jerryd Bayless, amongst others.

Yep I googled Sean Wink last night. He was the first of 10 players who left Northwestern in 18 months because of KO, TEN players! Unreal, that was 10 years ago but he clearly hasn't mellowed as much as he says he has.

No idea on Williams, I thought he'd sign by now and I'm surprised he's still looking at Memphis I guess he's not worried about their investigation but I would assume UA would be a much more logical pick, closer to home.

It looks like you may get your wish Mao, according to WildAboutAzCats.com, Williams seems to be leaning towards Arizona because he wants to stay on the West Coast. He's finishing his visit to Arizona today, so hopefully we'll hear from him soon.

If Williams signs (but even if he doesn't) Miller will have out-recruited most of the Pac10 in only 3 months. That's impressive.

True, but USC's fall helped us get 2, maybe 3 of our recruiting class, gotta love Tim Floyd.

I'm in Vegas at a trade show and I ran into a booster who told me that Williams barring something crazy is ours to lose. KO, Pastner, and ASU are making last runs at him but should he decide soon we're good to go.

From a bare cupboard and a last place conference finish to arguably the best class in the Pac-10 (only UCLA and maybe UW have an argument) and a Tournament lock in three months. Never could've seen this coming, thank you Tim Floyd.

Is it possible to nominate Tim Floyd to the Jim Click Hall of Champions once we make the tournament this year? Maybe we can get him a plaque in the bathroom or something.

It's nice to hear we are in the driver's seat for Williams, but thinking about 2010.

It's very cool Miller has got top ranked from across the country looking at us. But is anyone concerned that these top ranked kids may scare off some west coast guys we were interested in. Terrence Jones, Anthony Brown, James Johnson & Alex Kirk are guys whom I would love for U of A to get along with Richard Solomon who is on the rise.

My concern is that our interest in Ray McCallum, Deron Lamb, Dominique Ferguson may rub the other kids the wrong way like U of A considers them a back-up plan, which may be true but if we don't land McCallum, Lamb or Ferguson, the others might move on and sign somewhere else. I know Miller said he is looking around nationally not just regionally and you need to go for elite prospects but the kids in this part of the country are pretty good.

My dream class 2010 class would be:
SG Anthony Brown
PG Ray McCallum/ Gary Franklin or Naadir Tharpe would be fine as well
PF Terrence Jones
PF James Johnson
C Alex Kirk

What a great recruiting class Miller has assembled. Two months ago things couldn't have looked more bleak, now they have one of the top recruiting classes. Can't wait to see who he gets in his second recruiting class.

Really nice get I think Williams is a 4 year guy because of his size, but he'll be a very solid player for UA. He and Hill make a nice combo because Hill is big enough to guard a lot of college 4's, but has 3 and even 2 skills, he's clever with the ball, a great passer etc. Williams has the size of a 3, but plays a lot like a 4. Really nice class.

It's funny I read during the draft a former player of Miller's from Xavier wsa ripping him as a coach because his buddy Derrick Brown "slipped" out of the first round(no idea anybody had him rated that high). He was posting on twitter about how SM(miller) was all about himself blah blah. some UCLA fans were saying that stuff is going to hurt UA's recruiting and I just had to laugh and ask them if they'd paid attention to what he's done since he got the UA job.

The reality is pretty clear, kids do like Sean Miller, want to play for him, combine that with UA's history under Lute, and it sure looks like UA is going to be back very quickly challenging at the top of the Pac 10.

We're going to annihilate the PAC-10...for a loooooooooooong time.

FTFY

Our objectives should go above and beyond beating ASU. For years, no UofA fan considered them a legitimate threat and now that we have Miller and a respectable recruiting class, sky's the limit.

That was Stanley Burrell a fringe player himself who like most NCAA athletes have delusions of granduer about what they really are. He was pissed because he wasn't drafted the year prior and thinks its because of his playing within the team concept.

His gripe is that Miller has kids come in and play for the team and forsake their own self promotion for group success (pretty much every great coach does) thus hurting thier credibility with the L. He was talking about Brown slipping and how this was primarily due to him not getting promoted enough by Miller. It was funny because he just kept repeating "He hasn't once called since I graduated" - like maybe he was looking for a coaching job or something? Sounds like Sour Grapes to me.

My take was that if anyone had that gripe it would be with Ben Howland whose defensive slow ball style kills young athletes prospects like Jrue Holiday but makes plodders like Kevin Love look better then they are.

I think when Miller actually has you know, NBA level talent, both the individual and team goals will connect and that will only help recruiting going forward. With his pace and style of play I think guys like Sol Hill, Williams, and MoMo will all look good. I guess the first test case will be how Nic Wise looks this year.

Again - stop worrying about ASU. They're a football/baseball school that despite being improved under Sendek (and he's no lock to stay) is and will be largely irrelevant due to budgetary constraints. When you're paying a coach $2 million annually the goal is Pac-10 championships and Tournament runs.

Naadir Tharpe is a 2011 top 50 PG who's pretty much a done deal that will commit when he visits Arizona this summer. Brown might be off the table now with Williams in as at the moment we're somewhat loaded with wings. I'm guessing he ends up at ASU. Miller will try to get McCallum and some bigs in this class.

Yep I think it's pretty ridiculous, Miller inherited a good program and if anything made it better. It's a team game not a promote a certain kids NBA draft stock game.

Howland is not for everyone. For example UCLA has its advanced skills camp going on now, the reports are that 2 kids, Richard Solomon, and Bryce Jones, have already left the camp(day 2) because they weren't happy with how demanding Howland is. And that's fine with me, nothing against those kids the Howland way isn't for everyone, if you buy in you'll get better, but if you don't, you shouldn't sign with UCLA.

That's why the story about X Henry surprised me today, now I get why UCLA never really thought he was interested in them, no way in hell that kid is willing to play for Ben Howland.

I'm not a huge momo fan but I really like Hill and Williams. I don't know a thing about Parrom or the other kid but sure looks to me like UA has as good or better a class than anybody in the Pac 10. Pretty remarkable under the circumstances.

I love Solomon Hill's game. The shot isn't all there yet (which is an easy fix with repetition) but his basketball IQ, athleticism, and frame are NBA worthy. He'll start from Day 1 at Arizona I'm guessing.

Somebody ought to tell Andy Katz that Arizona wasn't going to be able to recruit California with KO there.

Rivals 2011 top 100 is out. One Arizona lean and one silent commit in the top 50. One verbal commit and lean for ASU as well. SoCal legend and the next Bill Walton Kyle Caudill is nowhere to be found nor does Matt Carlino who ASU and UA offered in middle school and is currently an Indiana commit.

http://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/viewrank.asp?SID=910&Year=2011&ra_key=2288

Caudill is 44 on Scout's top 100, Carlino is 72.

Bradley Beal at #7 (rivals) #9 (scout) is the middle child in the KU wet dream trifecta of Harrison Barnes/Beal/ Perry Ellis.

UA after yet another USC recruit who bolted, this time Gary Franklin of Mater Dei. he's a shoot first PG sort of like Momo, I'm not a huge fan of Franklin but he is a guy who can get REALLY hot shooting the 3 and he's athletic enough to play in the Pac 10.

Article doesn't make it sound like UA is the leader yet but it does sound like the kid wants to stay on the West Coast so UA has a nice shot at him.

Franklin plays with UCLA commit Tyler Lamb at Mater Dei, there were a lot of rumors Lamb was considering dropping UCLA for UA, those rumors seem to have gone away. I don't know if franklin and Lamb are good friends or not but if Franklin were to get interested in UA that might heat up the Lamb rumors again too.
