Godley gives up a double and HR in the 1st inning. 2-0 Brewers.

The Milwaukee announcer defined him as being one of two to have a starting spot locked up.

Which, of course, isn't true. Greinke and Ray have those spots.

I am not encouraged if Godley is, in fact, the only other.

Or any other, for that matter. But I'm sure that he is.

Diamondbacks' Zack Godley: Done in by Shaw
Rotowire Mar 9, 2019
Godley allowed three runs on five hits while striking out three over four innings in Friday's game against the Brewers.

Godley's pitching line would have looked a lot better If not for Milwaukee's Travis Shaw, who took him deep twice. "I felt really good," Godley told Steve Gilbert of MLB.com following the game. "Continuing to build on everything I've been working on coming into spring. Everything felt good, it was coming out really well. Even the pitches that were hit well, I thought they were still pretty good pitches, except for maybe one to Shaw." Godley has had a pair of rough outings this spring while continuing to wrestle with control. He's walked four batters in 7.1 innings after posting a 4.1 BB/9 in 2018. He'll slot in the middle of Arizona's rotation, but a rebuilding 2019 squad may not enable the right-hander to repeat his 15 wins from last year.

Diamondbacks' Yoshihisa Hirano: Makes second spring appearance
Rotowire Mar 9, 2019
Hirano walked one over a scoreless inning in Friday's game against the Brewers.

This was Hirano's second spring appearance -- both scoreless -- as manager Torey Lovullo has been taking it easy on his returning bullpen regulars. The 34-year-old right-hander is expected to fill a setup role in the bullpen and, at this stage is not being considered as a potential closer.

Diamondbacks' Archie Bradley: Stirkes out side
Rotowire Mar 9, 2019
Bradley allowed one run on three hits while striking out three in Friday's game against the Brewers.

It was a mixed bag for Bradley, who made his second spring appearance. He's the favorite to land the Diamondbacks' closer job, but the competition between him and Greg Holland will continue to play out over the next two weeks.
