In a van...down by the river.
I'm just excited to see a Star Trek film that involves the characters that were interesting in the first place.....and the back story on them. I'm almost sure that if i approach this movie w/the mindset that its going to be an awesome all-around film(that stands on its own) that i'm gonna be dissappointed.
For me,just revisiting the original Kirk,Spock,McCoy etc...and witnessing the pre 5 yr voyage story is worth my $10.
The special effects will surely be over the top and the story will prob be hokey and shallow but at least it won't be "Deep Space Nine:The Motion Picture" or "Voyager:The Adventures of Janeway".

Studio: Paramount Pictures
Director: J.J. Abrams
Screenwriter: Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman
Genre: Sci-Fi
MPAA Rating: PG-13 (for sci-fi action and violence and brief sexual content)

Plot Summary: The greatest adventure of all time begins with "Star Trek," the incredible story of a young crew's maiden voyage onboard the most advanced starship ever created: the U.S.S. Enterprise. On a journey filled with action, comedy and cosmic peril, the new recruits must find a way to stop an evil being whose mission of vengeance threatens all of mankind.

The fate of the galaxy rests in the hands of bitter rivals. One, James T. Kirk (Chris Pine), is a delinquent, thrill-seeking Iowa farm boy. The other, Spock (Zachary Quinto), was raised in a logic-based society that rejects all emotion. As fiery instinct clashes with calm reason, their unlikely but powerful partnership is the only thing capable of leading their crew through unimaginable danger, boldly going where no one has gone before.

Boys...the early buzz on the film seems good. Can't wait for this.

WOW!!!

Just saw an advanced screening of this movie, and OH HELLS YES!!! WOOOOOW!!! Unbelievable, and far better than the already over-the-top hype can even manage to convey. WOW!!! The only worry I had, which was Karl Urban as Bones, was not a worry at all; he did a marvelous job. I'll say no more, lest I give anything away, but man, that was the best free preview I've ever seen.

This looks really good. I'm not much into seeing movies in the theaters anymore due to the cost (vs waiting for DVD), but I'm there for this one.

The shot in the trailer of them base jumping or whatever along what appears to be a space elevator cable looks off the hook.

If it's remotely as cool as the trailers, the eye-candy alone will be worth the price of admission.

Before the original Star Trek series, so very much a prequel.

Looking forward to this one

I thought it was very good.

2 will always be my favorite but this one much MUCH exceeded my expectations, they did a nice job of kicking off a new/old generation and melding it into a believeable story line, and I like all the new actors of the new/old characters which is IMO the key.

Solid all around and I'm very much looking forward to the next installments.

This director gets Star Trek, and the special effects were very good, I expect it will resurrect the saga and make a whole new generation fans.

It is IMO a redeeming grace that we look towards a future like this, it's why I've always loved the series.

This movie was fantastic. Coolest part was having a girl I'm dating be the one to suggest we go see it opening night. I loved it. Thought they did an excellent job with casting.

J.J. Abrams "gets" Star Trek -- profound statement considering he wasn't a fan before reading the script.

I don't even know who the guy is but the entire movie felt like someone knew what the heck they were doing in terms of the essence of Star Trek.

I read where it was designed to apeal to people who've never been fans of the show or movies and I can certainly see that in the film but everything felt very comfortable and familiar about it and it had that feel of one of the great episodes to it, really stretched out of course but it was very well done and whoever is responsible I hope they keep doing them.

didn't like it

didn't hate

as a stand alone movie its okay

as part of the "star trek" universe ehhhhh.

The basic plot of the movie precludes it from being a "prequal" to any of well known star trek productions.

as for the plot of this movie Abrams stamp is on this.

think "LOST" in space.
