Another Disney+ series where the listed character will be a guest star on his own show. It'll be all about Reva and will destroy the lore. Looks pretty though.

Loved the first two episodes and Obi-Wan is definitely not a guest star in his own show.

And I thought the zag when you expected the story to zig was great. Loved the origin story and building up of a legacy character from the get go.

Solid villain and comic relief.

Well, that wasn't very good. I did not like the first two episodes. I literally laughed out loud at the choreography in the opening scene. It was not good looking.

For the bad guys, the Grand Inquisitor wasn't bad but Reva sucked. Yelling everything and acting over the top != menacing. The other Inquisitors had more gravitas to them are scarier due to it.

This is also suffering from being a prequel and the writers not realizing that. I felt zero in all of the "high stakes" scenes due to it. First, that scene with Reva yelling at the towns people and singling out Lars. We know nothing happens to him or his family since we've seen A New Hope. That might have had impact if it was someone one else. Then there's the whole Leia story line, which in general I didn't like the way she was portrayed, but we also know that nothing happens of consequence happens to her.

Then we have the score, or lack thereof. I had this complaint with Mandalorian and Boba Fett too. The SW movies have epic, iconic scores to them that really make the movies. There's nothing like that in these. I know you're probably not getting John Williams for the shows but you need someone doing something John Williams like and pulling in bits of his scores where appropriate. Even the flashback/catch you up opening didn't use it.

Actually, John Williams supposedly came back for this show. He said he never really got to flesh out Obi-Wan's theme.

Devil, your comments echo what many have said. That the other Inquisitors are much more interesting and fleshed out. But since this is the Reva show we can't have them take center stage and you'll be lambasted for daring to critique her. In fact, Disney was pre-attacking anyone with a differing opinion.

This show is going to break the lore and that's very sad.

It's already breaking lore and doing things that will cause issues with the existing universe.

John Williams only did the opening theme to it. I believe Natalie Holt scored the rest of it. Part of it probably comes down to Disney not wanting to pay royalties for using the music from the movies.

One thing I forgot to mention in my last post was how bad and stupid some of the dialog was. I groaned so loudly when Obi-wan asked Leia how old she is. That line was so incredibly stupid coming from him. The guy has been with the twins since their birth and has been watching over Luke. He'd know exactly how old she was. If it was meant as a joke it fell super flat and didn't work at all.

This obviously wasn't very well thought out by the people making this series. It seems like many (most?) of them want to tell a story using Star Wars characters rather than telling a story about Star Wars characters.

Someone made that comment on one of the home theater boards I read. I think it's a good description of this.

Very good first two episodes. A new young actress steals the second episode. Definitely loving the nods, the “Jedi” that helped Obi.

The first two did exactly what they should have done. Making you feel like you can’t wait for more.

I don’t understand how people are calling this the “Reva Show.” She hasn’t been in it very much and Obi-Wan has clearly had the most screen time.

I just wish Reva was portrayed by a better actress. This one is terrible.
Makes zero sense. Very much Obi Wan show. People just looking for things to complain about IMO.

i enjoyed the first two episodes with only two complaints:
- Other than Ewan McGregor, the majority of the other actors very much feel like television actors (not in a good way).
- The choreograph during the both of the on foot chase scenes with Leia were laughably ridiculous.

I think some of the basis for the "Reva Show" comments are due to the rumors/leaks for the show and not based on just the first two episodes. They were mostly accurate for the first 2 episodes. Some of the details were off but the plot line summaries were correct. So people are looking at them as being most likely accurate for the rest of the season and they made it seem like it was going to be the "Reva Show".

Do you have to be caught up on all the other star wars shows (eg Mandalorian) to watch this?

No but you should be caught up in the movies.

Well, eps 1 through 6 actually. And watching Rebels might help, but I haven’t seen that show myself.

Ok thanks. I've seen all the movies except for episode 9 and Solo. Never heard of Rebels.

Rebels is one of the SW cartoons. It's not really needed for this show. All you really need to know, and you can deduce it in the first scene, is that the Empire has the Inquisitorius. They're the inquisitors who are force sensitive dark side agents (a few are dark jedi) that are hunting down any of the Jedi that survived Order 66.

the scene where someone chasing her runs into a branch was LOL bad... same with the flags falling outside the bar at the beginning. I was like... two flags falling are going to stop the inquisitors from going after the guy?

didn't let it bother me though. just thought it was weird.

Some good came out of that chase though. This is funny.

The chase scene wasn't good. The way they shot it felt like they had a very limited "box" (area to shoot in). It's like they didn't want wider shots for some reason. It's only a nitpick though. The rest of the show is pretty damn good so far.

loving it so far--I've watched both episodes twice already. The kid they cast as young Leia has been good and Ewan is delivering a great performance, you genuinely feel that the guy is defeated.

It sucks that there are only 4 episodes left.

This. It's really a fantastic extension of the Obi Wan character. The biggest gap has always been what Ben was doing all that time. Now we know. He was basically defeated and gave up his connection to the force which was later an echo of what Luke did.

It also will now bring more Context to why she turns to Obi-Wan as her “only hope” in Star Wars.

I think it was a really smart turn to get him off Luke and Tatooine while still holding close to the lore already established.

We really liked the first two. So glad they didn't try another actor for Obi.

Agree about the actress playing the annoying Inquisitor not being good.

Watched the first two episodes last night - enjoyed it. Leia was a little annoying...but yes, seems to fill in the gaps between Episode III and A New Hope - explains why Kenobi was on Tatooine in the first place, why he was so reluctant, and Leia's connection to him.
