Lost me at "beginning with The Phantom Menace..."

:nono:

Not only that (BTW--I can tolerate Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones is my least favorite of the prequels) but that is a LONG time in a movie theater. Hopefully they give ample intermissions between films or everyone will be borderline exhausted by the time Episode 7 starts.

As much as I like Star Wars and am looking forward to the new movie I am not sure I can sit through 7 movies.

Kinda odd that there is no sign of Luke

Rumor is the whole story is about the search for Luke and he won't see a lot of screen time until Episode 8. If that is true it would explain why he hasn't been on any of the posters, any production stills or had an "old Luke" action figure released yet.

On the first day that tickets went on sale in the U.K. for director J.J. Abrams’ eagerly-awaited “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” demand was so great that it crashed the servers of two major British movie theater chains.

Odeon and Picturehouse’s web sites temporarily went down from the “unprecedented” demand, reps for the chains told BBC News.

The site for Vue Cinemas, the third largest chain in the country, remained fully operational, but the company reported selling out 10,000 tickets in its 80 theaters in just 90 minutes.

It will be interesting to see how things go here in the US tonight especially on Fandango which seems to be the ticket seller of choice.

Same here. I saw the originals in the theaters and then when they were re-released.

Even at 2hrs with a 20min break between is still pushing 15hrs. No thanks.

I can do this from the comfort of my couch just fine.

And I'll wait for the crowds to die down after a few weeks before going to see VII

In 1991, I saw Star Trek I, II, III, IV, V and then finally VI at an all day marathon - at the one and only original Cine Capri theater (since demolished).

Lots of fun if you have the time. The only way I'd consider doing it these days would be if the original Cine Capri still existed. Loved that place.

Just reserved seats for the whole family at AMC 14 Arrowhead for Dec. 19 at 12:30 PM. :D

Since it's reserved seating, I was able to get reclining seats for all of us smack dab in the middle/center of the theater (all the seats are leather recliners in this theater).

Didn't the screen and curtains get moved to the one up north?

No, but I've heard they have a mini-museum dedicated to the original. They also built columns outside the Scottsdale theater to the same specs as the ones built decades earlier at the original location.

They did hang similar golden curtains. I heard they have done that in all of their faux Cine Capri theaters - now up to 5 in multiple states.

Fandango is already straining under the load. This is going to be the biggest opening of all time and it won't even be close.

So I am doing something I have never done before. I have tickets for the regular show at 7:00 AND the 10:30 IMAX on Dec 17. Back to back showings!

It was a fight on Fandango just to get tickets, they obviously we're not prepared for the volume. This thing is going to set all kinds of records...wouldn't surprise me if it already set a record for presales already.

Oh and that trailer was awesome.

Best damn trailer in a while, maybe ever. Didn't reveal plot, and got me SO hyped. Loved it.

The Old Cine Capri was a wonderful theater, indeed. It was a crime that they destroyed it.

I agree...and the one complaint I read most is that it didn't give away enough, that makes no sense to me though, the trailer is to get you intrigued enough to see the film. Not all films make the mistake of Terminator Genisys and their ridiculous plot reveal (I still haven't seen it because that plot revealed killed my desire to see the movie).

Have not been a huge Star Wars fan, my wife has sworn never to see any Star Wars. But our kids love it, big time. They are getting to that age where we won't be seeing them as much anymore. So just got our 4 tix. Should be a lot of fun.
