it's really not debatable IMO. Jared Gaither and Eric Winston were both better and we didn't even sniff them for LT... and the fact that we did NOTHING at RT is even more ridiculous that we resigned Brown who had been awful at LT for all but 8 games of his entire career.

...King Dunlap...

Speaking of wish, we may get a chance at D.Bell again, since Dunlap is winning the Philadelphia LT position right now.

That we didn't want "life without Levi Brown" with no replacement.

Whatever "life without Levi Brown" means.

Fair enough tho.

Urban did not say he thought the fans wanted to see Levi Brown hurt. Better ?

Agreed.

What you say is fair, and of course, I say different but at least we are sticking to the truth of the debate.

All good stuff my friend!

I feel like this thread is destined to be a 5 star

I think everyone needs to take a deep breath and remember that Skkorp wanted this board to stay classy.

Things like this tend to bring out peoples' passions. I don't think this is something to rip one another over. Dang. Urban writes something and now we're hassling one another?

Must be three weeks to the start of the season.

That would be hilarious.

Well it is the truth. Living near Philly I get an ear of the ins and outs of camp.

King Dunlap played very well for Philly last year, and I was hoping we would pick him up since he can play OG, or OT. The fact he is now the Philly starting LT............

Hey we have Adam Snyder.

1. Admitting that he had only met Skkorp on a couple of occasions and then labeling him as a "glass half-empty" Cardinals' fan---who "wanted to believe"---wtf.

The first time I met Jim we talked for hours about the Cardinals. We had a passion for the same team even though they were terrible and lacking talent.

http://www.arizonasportsfans.com/vb/f4/cool-asfn-story-10412.html?

I think Darren nailed Jim perfectly. Back then deep down we all knew the Cardinals were not very good and unless things changed at the very top it would be more of the same. All the while deep down we wanted to believe that they were something better and that maybe we were wrong. So we expected the worst but hoped for the best.

You have to remember that when Jim and the othe ASFN writers were allowed to watch practices it was before we moved to the new Stadium. We were the laughing stock of the NFL back then. That was when he met Jim.

Darren already said he was sorry if he offended you and that was not his intention. He mearly wanted to share the story of a great Cardinal fan who was lost.

Why can't you bury that hatchet?

Now who's the turnstile - I see most the people that never ever had a good word- zip- blank- nada- for Smushdown Levi Brown- no encouragement thank you or bless you.

Well we need to support his back ups- and hope that when he comes back He upgrades a further developed Oline unit for the playoffs- hopefully against the stupid NINERS!

The NINERS get the WILD CARD as we destroy them the 3rd time in 2012 ----------

I loved Levis TD for -2 yards! as Max Hall got his head tore off scrambling!
It doesn't get any better than that for a TACKLE!

Thanks for setting me straight.

I had and still have several issues with Urban's blurb:

1. Admitting that he had only met Skkorp on a couple of occasions and then labeling him as a "glass half-empty" Cardinals' fan---who "wanted to believe"---wtf.

2. The innuendo of saying that Skkorp had "managed to get credentials" is obvious---it smacks of unlike the high and might Urban himself, Skkorp didn't deserve to get them.

It was a thoroughly irresponsible account of Skkorp.

First of all---every die-hard Cardinals' fan had been through hell to that point. We were the laughing stock of the NFL. You could say we all were "half emptiers wanting to believe"---but why in recognizing a man's life would you ever write something like that? Especially when YOU DiDN'T REALLY KNOW THE MAN.

Secondly---if Urban really wanted to do Skkorp justice and was really paying attention maybe, just maybe he could have cast aside the personal remarks in favor of explaining that Skkorp was a veteran who risked his life for his country and due to chronic health ailments and issues he was relegated to a wheelchair for the last years of his life---BUT iT DiDN'T STOP HIM OR HiS SPiRiT.

Those of you who knew Skkorp like i did know that he wasn't a glass half-empty guy---he had a beguiling wit and a great sense of humor---and a benevolence for human kind and all of us who were his buddies here on the board.

Yeah---guess i was spewing "stupid crap"---well go f yourselves all of you who think that.
You got your boy's back, I can totally understand that. I've never been a Urban fan, he's more like a Darren Suburban, he should change his name. I bet he could fit all his fans in a Chevy Suburban. I never had the pleasure of meeting Skkorp, but I have read a lot of his stuff. We couldn't fit all of Skkorp's fan in a single Chevy Suburban, or a school bus, or...he has a lot of fans. :raccoon:Beers up!! Half full, half Urban, Skkorp is still the the man. :)

I think my favorite memory of Levi is the guy at Doc and Eddy's in Tempe who would yell "Levi you turnstyle!" about 3-4 times a game when I was watching all the away games there in 2009 and 2010.

Life without Levi

Enough. You lying, fibbing base of people who are using an injury for a chance to falsely call out fellow fans who disagree with you about something. For shame.

First, let's get this straight. Yes, there are fans that did not want Levi Brown on this team. I am one of them. But, I, and other like me wanted Levi Brown REPLACED. I didn't want Levi Brown hurt. I didn't want Levi Brown hurt, and with no one to back up him, or replace him. Nobody wanted that, and to say/imply that is wrong, false, and downright shameless since it wreaks of hiding behind an injury to try and make a point. Even worse a false point.

Again, we didn' want Levi Brown gone, we wanted him replaced. Remember back in free agency ? Demetrius Bell, Jeff Backus, King Dunlap, Matt Starks, Cordy Glenn, Matt Kalil, Riley Reiff, etc., etc., etc., etc., etc. Those are replacements.

When Levi Brown was signed, we were not happy. When Levi Brown was signed and no other tackles were brought in, we were livid.

Now Levi Brown is hurt. We have no replacement, no back-up, and no depth. Now to throw that on the fase base is disgusting.

We didn't take 8 months too many to resign Calais Campbell. We didn't keep Kevin Kolb at his audacious salary. We didn't draft a WR when we needed offensive line help NOW.

So, take your guilt trip and shove it. Cause I don't feel guilty cause what the situation was, and what it is being made out to be now, are completely different. I have NO IDEA who Urban and the rest are talking about.

:mulli:

PS - Levi Brown has sucked for years, and the Cardinals have done nothing about it. Scores of highly respected media personal have said as much for decades. So, why isn't Urban, and his band of "I told you so's" not attacking, and have not been attacking the media for year ?

PSS - I be sure to come back here to this thread, if on the highly unlikely chance, the Cardinals luck out and get a LT that plays better than Brown. Cause then you know....it is I told you so time again.

Personally I never want to see any athlete hurt. This is a game not a war as many think. No matter what kind of player one is I just am not built to hope he will be hurt. Most people have families and other loved one who care about them. They also hurt when their loved one is hurt. I want the Cards to always win but not at the expense of paying players a bonus to hurt one another. That is really low and if a manger condoned that I would fire his a-- on the spot. If you accept hurt him does that mean put him in a wheelchair? Guys are going to get hurt without a special effort to ensure it.

For crying out loud. Why all the angst? If I didn't know some of you better, I would think we are hearing from people with a guilty conscious.

Urban didn't say ALL Cardinal fans, so don't take it personally.

well

Well I wonder how much bounty was on Sean Peyton when he was taken out last year?

Then Goodall took him out this year- I don't feel too bad for peyton- allowing his team to be criminal at others expense- I can't pay to have my competition hurt.

Levi has been one of our best players we have- now we will see his value. And I hope the youngins get better so Levi can come back into a better situation.

Before Whiz hangd him out to dry again, on Levi's Island! He would sink Reevis Island!
