DK Metcalf, arguably the biggest Steelers trade in recent memory, is likely in for a fall if he continues to place his trust in the team's ability to select his next QB.
Metcalf has recently expressed belief in the Pittsburgh Steelers' search for their next starting QB: "They made me feel like they had the right decision with who was going to be throwing me the football."
The former Seahawk and newly acquired Steelers WR may have faith in Art Rooney II, Omar Khan, and Mike Tomlin, but there has been little evidence to suggest that their promises are anything more than false guarantees—just ask former Steelers Melvin Ingram III, Justin Fields, or even James Harrison on his 2017 fiasco over playing time.
The Pittsburgh Steelers once prided themselves on treating players like family, emphasizing loyalty and trust. However, even Najee Harris noticed a shift in culture, recalling how Tomlin told him early on that the NFL is a 'business.' That reality set in when Harris was shown the door despite four consecutive, hard-earned 1,000-yard rushing seasons.
Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson, and Mason Rudolph leave little hope for the future of the QB room. Not to rain on Metcalf's parade, but the Pittsburgh Steelers likely have no real plan for handling the QB situation in the immediate or long-term future. After all, actions speak far louder than words.
