Have you ever been in the position where you're being groomed to take over for your supervisor/manager or similar and when you finally get the position you implement a plan that's not exactly in line with the previous? I have on more than one occasion. I've also had those who worked under me take over, when I've left a position or been promoted, and totally changed things up. It may happen more than we think.

If you have any ambition and want to make a name for yourself, you don't just keep doing what your predecessor did 100%, no matter how successful they seemed to be.
That’s fine if you’re growing up in culture that is teaching you good habits/ways of management. But that is beyond opposite of what’s transpired in the franchise… for the last FORTY YEARS.

This culture is ROTTEN. HAS ALWAYS BEEN ROTTEN. Do you realize this team has only sought outside help at GM ONCE in 40 years? We have been failing candidates upwards for decades and have been, by and large, complete failures on the field as a result the overwhelming majority of those 40 years.

Expecting different results from the exact same process where we promote from within AGAIN is the definition of insanity.

They may very well take an entirely different approach than our last 2 GM's, but I'm in agreement with you. Can Bidwill really take that risk? Michael can preach to us until he's blue in the face about creating a Super Bowl caliber franchise, but I'm a firm believer in the saying: If you always do what you've always done, you will always get what you've always got. Michael needs to be honest with himself. His family has never had a clue on how to build a consistent winner. It's time to hire SOMEONE who has & get the hell out of the way.

Find out the motive behind Michael about this franchise and you'll figure out his methods.

It defies logic to believe two guys who have learned at the feet of a terrible GM are part of the solution moving forward and not part of the problem that needs to be replaced.
people manage how they are managed. had either of these guys spent a few years with another team there might be hope, but everything they know about managing a team they learned from keim... mike needs to go outside...way outside

While it is possible, that is not a risk I want to take. Break the cycle of suck, please, and bring in an outside influence. Clean out the old culture. I don't care if one of those two becomes a supremely good GM--let them do it elsewhere. This team needs to be smart about this.

Given that need, I have no doubt Bidwill will screw it up.

Not entirely. I learned A TON (way more in fact than what TO do), about what NOT to do on my path from line cook, to sous chef, the chef de cuisine, to executive chef, to owner.

To be clear, I want to blow the whole thing up, but its not a huge leap that people who come up under less than ideal situations are able to see the environment they are in and then change the paradigm when given the reins.

Yes, that can be and is often true. Examining the situation logically, however, do you want to roll the dice that they somehow can change the entire culture of this organization after coming up under Keim? That's a low-floor proposition if I've ever seen one.

Hell no. I just dont love universalisms and statements easily argued against through personal experience.

Yeah I know exactly where you are coming from, I always say I learned more from bad supervisors than good ones. Not everyone is that way but it is possible.
