Really hope San Antonio doesn't come calling offering Kawhi for the #1 pick. I like Kawhi but his latest injury worries me as well as him wanting out of San Antonio. Nobody has demanded a trade off the Spurs, they're perennial contenders so long as Popovich is there. We also don't have room for him with Jackson and Warren at SF already. No doubt that he's better than either of them and probably better than either of them will be but something about that whole situation worries me. I'd rather not chance it and see him leave in 2 years and watch Ayton be the next Tim Duncan in a Spurs uniform.

I also am strongly suspect of how good someone from San Antonio really is. Pop masks a ton of deficiencies in players. Statements like "Tony Parker is a sure HOFer" are laughable. The guy would barely be average anywhere else. Same with Manu. (Duncan excluded). I know Kawhi is really good, and looks a heck of a lot better than those other two, but how much does he lose leaving SA? That should not be ignored.

I also HATE the thought of giving up on JJ and Ayton for a guy who DOESN'T want to stay with a perennial winner. Sorry. No dice.

I'd pass. I like Ayton over Towns.

Off the top of my head... 4 guys I'd trade it for... Davis, Giannis, KD (if he signed a 4 year extension), LeBron (also on an extension). I only leave Embiid out because of health.

The only one of those that is remotely possible is Davis, should he decide he's fed up in New Orleans.

Factoring age into the equation I would do it for Davis, Giannis or Towns.

I'm looking to build a new empire.

Giannis Antetokounmpo, Anthony Davis, Karl-Anthony Towns, Kevin Durant, and James Harden are the only players I'd consider trading the #1 pick for. Durant would need a new extension, Davis also. Harden signed an extension recently. Towns is the most questionable of the bunch. It would take a guarantee he'd sign an extension and medical eval's to come back clean, which I suspect they would since he's played every game since he's been in the league.

I'd also consider trading it for Damian Lillard but it would take something extra from Portland to do that, like next years pick unprotected. I know I'm probably alone in that one and I get that. He happens to be my favorite non-Suns player and he is really good but I'll admit I'm biased in that regard.

Looking at the money situation the Suns might be better off building their own empire. The super max is a killer weight around a team.

It won't take 1 to get Lillard. The Blazers had a meeting with him last year because he wasn't happy and now I imagine it's worse.

I’m not even trading it for KD or Lebron.

Davis or giannis and MAYBE KAT plus something else. That’s how delusional I am about Ayton’s upside.

I think he'll be better than Towns, I really wouldn't want to do that trade.

Boston can trump any offer of ours to get into the top-5. Stevens is crazy about defense and Horford isn’t playing at this level forever. I think Ainge will target Bamba.

The trio of Ayton, Booker and Jackson seems like a good core to me. Unless an opportunity to move way up in the draft presents itself which is an obvious longshot, we should stay the course, sign/trade for a veteran PG and "dirt worker" of a power forward. Someone with a nasty streak that can share minutes at PF while we pray for a Bender miracle....

That picture is weirding me out. Is that guy in the background a cardboard cutout? Is he just short? Is that door just ridiculously tall because they have a custom NBA player style home? What is happening there?

I need another drink.

I would not.
Yeah, I don't think I would do it for Kat right now either, mostly because defensively that would be too many minuses on the team, as well as the fact that it makes closes our window of financial flexibility pretty damn quick with both Booker and him eligible for extensions at the same time.

General manager Ryan McDonough said the Suns are open to trading the top pick.

"I think if you look around the NBA, as far as the veteran players, there are probably a few players we'd consider trading the pick for, not ... just pick for player No. 1. So it'll be a busy month for us," McDonough said. Last summer, the Suns surprised most of us when they said they likely wouldn't compete for at least two seasons, but back in January McDonough said he's planning on aggressively pursuing free agents this summer. It would be a major shock to see the Suns unload the pick, but don't underestimate them doing something foolish wild.

.... or take over the PF position himself. I just don't see Bender ever being a strong Big Man on a team that has ambition. Man, it sounds good to say that about the Suns.

It reminds me of the selfie I took at the Suns 50th Anniversary museum display. I was standing next to a poster of Tyler with my back hitting the wall. And he and I are both 5'10".

HOnestly. The ideal PF along side Ayton is Bender if he can develop. His skill set is perfect.

Well let's hope Bender continues to progress under Igor. A lot of fans were interested in Randle but his lack of a 3 point shot does not help the Suns especially if they draft Ayton. Obviously the Suns will try to spread the court.

I think Chriss can spread the court as well especially if given a more defined role. The Suns are probably not going to keep both players. It will be interesting to see which one they keep.

I must say I like Chriss' new haircut... bonus points.

This is why Bender has some significant trade value. Its because he has shown ability to hit the three, and be a mobile effective defender. He has that ability. Most coaches, if they see that, believe they can bring it out more consistently. That skill set is really really valuable right now. Its about his potential, not his present consistent output.

I read somewhere the Suns might trade the more valuable of the two for another asset.

However, I would like to see both of them play in Igor's system before doing it. No doubt though, there is a good chance it happens. IMO, the biggest problem with Chriss is his maturity level but I'm thinking he has turned the corner right before our eyes.
