Really hope San Antonio doesn't come calling offering Kawhi for the #1 pick. I like Kawhi but his latest injury worries me as well as him wanting out of San Antonio. Nobody has demanded a trade off the Spurs, they're perennial contenders so long as Popovich is there. We also don't have room for him with Jackson and Warren at SF already. No doubt that he's better than either of them and probably better than either of them will be but something about that whole situation worries me. I'd rather not chance it and see him leave in 2 years and watch Ayton be the next Tim Duncan in a Spurs uniform.
I also am strongly suspect of how good someone from San Antonio really is. Pop masks a ton of deficiencies in players. Statements like "Tony Parker is a sure HOFer" are laughable. The guy would barely be average anywhere else. Same with Manu. (Duncan excluded). I know Kawhi is really good, and looks a heck of a lot better than those other two, but how much does he lose leaving SA? That should not be ignored.
I also HATE the thought of giving up on JJ and Ayton for a guy who DOESN'T want to stay with a perennial winner. Sorry. No dice.
